Osama Bin Laden still MIA

police are continuing their search for chief suspects Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden, both wingers on the Camels hockey team

Perhaps I'm wrong and Osama is quietly enjoying a Big Mac Camel-Burger in downtown Islamabad, but he's not been heard from since September 23 2006 when I reported that Bin Laden's Death Saddens Me.

Two days later ABC News gave some background on the OBL death (1) and ended with the Saudi embassies in Washington, D.C. and Islamabad denying they had any information that bin Laden was dead.

Then two days later again it was reported he was alive and well. (2)

[Update: He's finally dead.]

Even in the recent tape last Friday Al Qaeda Sends a Message to Democrats, it's not from OBL, but rather Ayman al Zawahri who called on the Democrats to negotiate with him and Osama bin Laden, not others in the Islamic world who Zawahri says cannot help.

"And if you don't refrain from the foolish American policy of backing Israel, occupying the lands of Islam and stealing the treasures of the Muslims, then await the same fate," he said.

Endangered Feces Fan Club President answers the hotlineYes, we must stop stealing the treasures of the Muslims, such as goat shit, camel dung, horse turds, and sheep doodie. In fact, we have stolen so much shit from Islam that most Muslim countries are now on the endangered feces list. [Yes, yes, I know there is a New York Punk group with that name. Click on the photo right for their website.]

But I do have to acknowledge that Osama was right in one respect when he said Americans cannot take casualties and will leave Islamic lands when the body count gets too high. This is certainly true for a certain group of Americans who go by the Political term "Liberal idiots". Recent blogs have pointed out that the military death toll in Iraq now exceeds the number lost in 9/11. Yes, one can be thankful there weren't too many liberal idiots in government when we lost 2,403 souls at Pearl Harbor. Can you imagine the stink they would have raised when by 1945 over 62 million lives worldwide were lost! I suppose very few lives would have been lost if we just minded our own business and ignored what was happening in rest of the world.

And remember it was Japan that attacked us, not Germany. We attacked a country that did not attack us. Sure we could point to the Mutual Assistance Pacts and that both countries were on a jag to control the world. However, they had as much love for each other as Saddam and Osama had for each other. We really attacked Germany because of a possible future threat to us. Only the most low of liberal idiots blames the US now for entering the war then. But there is no doubt now (3) that Saddam eventually would have had enough weapons and power to destabilize the entire Middle East. Thankfully we have since learned that regardless of why we attacked Iraq, we are safer now than had we sat this one out. Without Iraq, the thousands of foreign Jihadists spilling their blood there might have had to come here instead. When we leave Iraq, we will have to make sure there is another place they can go fight in, say perhaps Iran?

Asia Media, FRANCE: 'French army had Osama in sights'

Paris --- A documentary says French special forces had Osama bin Laden in their sights twice about three years ago but their US superiors never ordered them to fire.

The French military, however, said that the incidents never happened and the report was "erroneous information".

The documentary, due to air next year and seen by Reuters on Tuesday, says the troops could have killed the Al Qaida leader in Afghanistan but the order to shoot never came, possibly because it took too long to request it.

"In 2003 and 2004 we had bin Laden in our sights. The sniper said 'I have bin Laden'," an anonymous French soldier is quoted as saying.

The documentary Bin Laden, the failings of a manhunt is by journalists Emmanuel Razavi and Eric de Lavarene, who have worked for several major French media outlets in Afghanistan. A cable television channel plans to air the documentary in March.

ABC News, Taliban to ABC News: OBL Alive and Safe

In a surprise phone call to the home of an ABC News producer in Pakistan, the top Taliban military commander, Mulla Dadullah Akhund, said Osama bin Laden is alive and that there is no truth to the rumors of his death from typhoid.

Slate, The Buried Truth

It's a good coincidence that the Duelfer report appears in the same week as The Bomb in My Garden, a memoir by Saddam Hussein's chief nuclear physicist. Between them, or taken together, the two bodies of evidence enable two quite different yet quite compatible conclusions. The first is that the Saddam regime was more disarmed than perhaps even its leadership knew. The second is that it would have been very unwise to proceed on any assumption except that of its latent danger.

This may seem like an attempt to have it both ways, but consider: We only know all of this, about the Baathist weapons programs and their erosion and collapse, because of regime change. Up until then, any assumption that all the fangs had been removed would have been a highly irresponsible one. It would have involved, quite simply, taking Saddam Hussein's word for it. His prior record of deception, double-dealing, and concealment makes that quite impossible. The long-felt need was for an administration that did not give him the benefit of any doubt, that had a nasty and suspicious mind, and that would resolve any ambiguity on the presumption of guilt.
