Americans Working Together
Last week I offered my readers a refutation of 13 Myths About Sarah Palin. Reader Jasmine asked, "[C]an we expect a nice non-partisan post by you on all the myths about Obama that are being spread by the right?"
I'm glad to oblige but with a minor Caveat lector - I am also listing myths about Obama that are being spread by the left and by non-Americans as well.
Here, for your enlightenment are 13 Myths about Barack Obama, some of which are true and not really myths:
- Obama is the Messiah [Slate Magazine].
The facts: I asked my Jewish friend Mendel and he said that since Obama is not Jewish (except when he campaigns in Florida) then he cannot be the Messiah. Where is his yarmulke for God's sake?
Most Obama supporters of course deeply, fervently believe that Obama is in fact the Messiah. I am sticking my neck out here, but I categorically state that he is not - despite myth #2
- Obama can walk on water, heal the lame, change water to wine [American Thinker].
Again, these are just unsubstantiated rumors spread by the left. I will agree on one thing: Obama can change wine to water; that is to say, I believe he can take the world's strongest economic system and turn it into crap.
- Obama is black.
Not really. Yes, he has a black wife and 'looks' a bit black and goes to a black church, but what does that mean?
I didn't have the heart (or the stomach) to point out the obvious: Obama isn't black. "Black," in our political and social reality, means those descended from West African slaves. Voluntary immigrants of African descent (even those descended from West Indian slaves) are just that, voluntary immigrants of African descent with markedly different outlooks on the role of race in their lives and in politics. At a minimum, it can't be assumed that a Nigerian cabdriver and a third-generation Harlemite have more in common than the fact a cop won't bother to make the distinction. They're both "black" as a matter of skin color and DNA, but only the Harlemite, for better or worse, is politically and culturally black, as we use the term.
There are some who think he is more likely Arab-American than African-American. Certainly Obama with his racial features would have no trouble running for office as an Arab in Algeria.
Now, seriously: I say Obama is no more black than I am. Haven't we yet reached an age where we can dispense with these political categories of color?
- Obama spent at least four years in a Madrassa, or Muslim seminary, in Indonesia [Insight Mag].
Actually according to Snopes Obama only spent a few years in Muslim and Catholic schools in Indonesia none of which had radical Islamic teachings.
Although Obama mentions that when young he attended a predominantly Muslim school, I agree that that alone means nothing. The fanatical Wahhabi-type schools did not come into Indonesia until a dozen years later. That he was born to a Muslim father only means that Muslims consider him Muslim, once a Muslim... I went to a Catholic school and even made my Communion, but that didn't make me a Catholic, except perhaps to Catholics.
- Obama is a member of a "Separatist cult" [Chicago Tribune].
Well, that's true.
- Obama had some real estate deals with Tony Rezko, indicted on charges he solicited kickbacks [Chicago SunTimes].
True. The Feds say that $10,000 from the alleged kickback scheme was donated to Obama's run for the U.S. Senate. Obama has given the money to charity.
- Obama's wife ran a campaign to turn poor people away from healthcare and made hundreds of thousands of dollars yearly from knowing Rezko.
Maggie's Notebook, A Chicagoan's Perspective on Obama, Rezko and Corruption
Michelle was subsequently hired by the University of Chicago, ultimately ending up as the University of Chicago Hospital's Vice President for External Affairs. Barack was chair of the Illinois Senate's powerful Health and Human Services Committee, the position tied by some to the Rezko scandal.
In 2007 the not-for-profit University of Chicago hospital turned out a profit of 143 million, and is up 118 million for 2008. The hospital is scheduled to receive a 30 million infusion from Medicaid, and will be turning some of its Medicaid patients to another hospital to free up space for its private insurance paying patients. According to the (London ) Daily Mail (online), in 2006 the hospital turned away an indigent man, who died.
When Michelle exhorts young people to turn down the profit system and do something meaningful with their lives, apparently this is not the example she means to convey.
Now you might ask what does a community relations director at a university do? That's really a naive question. The question is who does the community relation's director know?
The answer became apparent when Barack was elected to the U.S. Senate and Michelle's salary more than doubled.
- Obama is Unpatriotic and Refuses to Put His Hand Over His Heart During the Pledge of Allegiance.
Yeah, I got that email - it was not the Pledge of Allegiance - it was the National Anthem and Obama did nothing wrong or unpatriotic.
- Obama is a Muslim.
No, he's a member of a radical, separatist, anti-white cult, see Myth #5.
- Obama Was Sworn Into Office With The Quran.
Not true - that was Congressman Keith Ellison.
- Barack Obama Wants To Raise Your Taxes.
- Obama grew up influenced by Communists.
Accuracy in Media, 18 Feb 2008, Obama’s Communist Mentor
It turns out that Obama's childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a communist.
In his books, Obama admits attending "socialist conferences" and coming into contact with Marxist literature. But he ridicules the charge of being a "hard-core academic Marxist," which was made by his colorful and outspoken 2004 U.S. Senate opponent, Republican Alan Keyes.
However, through Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his "poetry" and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just "Frank."
Obama does not deny having a deep relationship with Davis.
The Right Truth, Obama's peverted communist friend Frank Marshall Davis
But the Obama campaign’s 40-page so-called rebuttal to Corsi’s book confirms and does not deny the Obama relationship with Davis. The rebuttal, however, doesn’t acknowledge that Davis was a communist and instead tries to depict him as a civil rights activist by dishonestly editing an article about Davis. It makes no mention of Davis’s Sex Rebel book and his interest in pornography.
- Obama had a relationship with William Ayers, a founding member of the 1960s and 1970s radical group the Weather Underground which was involved with several bombings on the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol.
So out of 13 Myths I show that 7 of them are not true.
Related to his church which is anti-American, his Communist mentor who hates America, his relationship with Ayers who is anti-American, his wife who in her entire life except for once is not proud to be an American, is that Obama at heart is not really American, not just anti-American, but un-American:
The Confederate Yankee launches a truly scathing attack on Obama’s fundamental lack of “American-ness” -- and it has nothing to do with skin color, and everything to do with his profoundly un-American upbringing. I think you should read it.
I will add only that some of the greatest patriots I've met are people who were raised in countries other than America, but who came here bursting with love for everything that it is unique and wonderful about America. Obama's lack of patriotism, his lack of love for the country, goes beyond his peculiarly "un-American" upbringing, and lodges deep within the psyche of a very angry, alienated man.
