Islam is Politics or It is Nothing

Mohammed as conqueror

I have written frequently that many of the Muslims who leave comments on my blog are either purposely being deceptive or are quite ignorant of their own history because they usually respond with egregiously idiotic remarks such as, "Islam never spread with the sword but because it is the True religion," or similar nonsense.

The deceptive Muslim says such things hoping the gullible infidel will believe him and the uneducated Muslim says such things because, well, he's uneducated as are most Muslims, see Muslim IQ.

Here's a recent comment left by a Muslim: "Islam is a religion and the people who want to make it a political movement are not following Islam."

Obviously this Muslim knows very little about Islamic history. Islam is not a religion, it is a total political and social system. Mohammed was not just a spiritual leader, but a ruler and a conqueror. Islam from its very beginning spread because it had the political power of the Islamic state behind it. Those who say that Islam is a religion are merely spreading an Islamic myth.

In Islam there is no difference between God's Law and the law of the state. The same God who created the Qur'an created the political laws which govern Islamic societies.

Political rulers in Islamic states rule in the shadow of God. The Caliph, throughout Islamic history, has not been just the political head of state but the Amīr al-Mu'minīn, the Commander of the Faithful.

Christians are commanded to “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s” (Matthew 22:21). However, there is no such obligation for Muslims. In Muslim teaching and experience, there was no Caesar. God was the head of the state, and Muhammad his Prophet taught and ruled on his behalf. (1)

A central tenet of the Islamist position is that Shari’a can function as a constitution in Islamic states (2); again, that there should not be any law but God's law ruling the Muslim polity.

As I've written many times, Islam is the only "religion" that has its own political organization, The OIC, composed of 56 Muslim countries. See America and Islam are mutually exclusive:

In America we are a nation of many religions. In the Islamic world there is only one religion spread over many nations. For example, there is the Organization of the Islamic Conference, but there is no equal organization of Catholic, or Buddhist, or Hindu countries.

That is to say, if Islam were merely a religion, then there would be no problem with Muslims coming to America or Europe. But because Islam is a political system with its own law and its own nation: dar al-Islam, Muslims living in non-Muslim countries must become Mujahideen and strive in the path of God to turn the host country into the house of Islam.

Anyone who says that Islam is not a political system is either a liar or simply ignorant.

For those of you who are not familiar with the title to this post, it is not solely my opinion, the quote is from the Ayatollah Khomeini (3).

During his lifetime, Islam became a political as well as a religious allegiance, and the Prophet's community in Medina became a state with the Prophet himself as sovereign - ruling a place and a people.

A central tenet of the Islamist position is that Shari’a (or sometimes the Qur’an and Sunna) can function as a constitution in Islamic states, promoting good and forbidding evil, ensuring, when embodied institutionally, that law is in accord with Muslim precepts.
