Roshonara Choudhry, of Bangladeshi origin, was born in Newham, east London in 1989. The eldest of five children of a moderate Muslim family, she received A's throughout her education. Her teachers described her as “a pleasant and well-behaved student.”
In the fall of 2009 Choudhry began the final year of her English and Communications Degree at one of London's most prestigious universities, King’s College, on her way to becoming a teacher with expectations of graduating with first class honors.
Although she was a Muslim all of her life, like most Muslims in the world, she knew very little about the Qur'an or Islam. Then in April of this year she learned about Islam from an online jihadist website. She dropped out of college and methodically began to research the backgrounds of London MPs using the website They Work For You, which provides information on voting records, and concentrated on the former Labor ministers Jim Fitzpatrick, Margaret Hodge, Nick Raynsford and Mr Timms, all of whom had backed the Iraq war.
She selected Mr Timms, the East Ham MP, as her target and made an appointment to see him on May 14. Dressed all in black in her hijab, hiding two knives underneath, she made her way to the community center where Mr Timms held meetings with his constituents.
As Mr Timms held out his right hand in greeting, Choudhry took it in her left hand and with a knife in her right hand lunged at him, stabbing him twice. He survived.
When Choudhry was questioned by police, she told them, "I was trying to kill him because he wanted to invade Iraq." It should be mentioned Ms Choudhry doesn't know anyone in Iraq, has no relatives there, and has never even been there.
Last month, Roshonara Choudhry was sentenced to life in prison [she must serve a minimum of 15 years] becoming the first person to have attempted an al-Qa'ida-inspired assassination of a public figure in the UK.
I should like to point out that when Muslim apologists insist that "Of course not all Muslims are terrorists," that Ms Choudhry, pre-Jihad, is precisely whom they are talking about. A moderate, productive, educated, happy, seemingly assimilated Muslim who in no manner could possibly pose any threat to western civilization or to the country of her birth.
Ms Choudhry is not alone in the contempt she feels for her home country. In my article How to differentiate Moderate Muslims from Extremists I noted that a Daily Telegraph newspaper survey found that one-third of British Muslims believe that Western society is decadent and immoral and that Muslims should seek to end it.
This warrants repeating: One-third of British Muslims believe they should put an end to western society. Let's do the math: the United Kingdom is littered with 1,647,000 Muslims of which over half a million believe that the culture they live in is only worthy of destruction. I doubt that the British government considers these half-million as terrorists, so hearing the phrase "not all Muslims are terrorists" is cold comfort to the infidels living in the UK.
It is unfortunate that only people like Ms Choudhry take the time to understand the Qur'an. I wish my countrymen would read it and be fearful. I wish our leaders would understand what is in that book.
When I was a young man fifty years ago, it was a crime for a person to advocate the overthrow of our government or to publish any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence. And yet here we are, in the new century, where a Congressman swore his oath of office upon the Qur'an and a President who quoted seven verses from that vile tome in Cairo last year.
In a sane world, both of these traitors would have been in violation of US Code - Section 2385. The Qur'an directly, proudly, unequivocally and clearly calls for the overthrow and destruction of any government not under Shariah Law.
