Middle East Version of The Scorpion and the Frog
By Bernie on 07 Jul 2011
In my article Why the Muslim shot the Jews in Seattle, I give the traditional rendition of the story of the Scorpion and the Frog.
Some of my readers may assume that the tale has the same punchline in every clime and culture. Not so.
Here is the Middle East version:
The Scorpion and the Frog
A Hezbollah scorpion and a Lebanese frog meet on the banks of the Litani River, the longest river in Lebanon. The scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back.
The frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?"
The scorpion replies, "Because if I do, I will die too."
The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream, the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of paralysis and starts to sink. Knowing they both will drown, he has just enough time to gasp "Why?"
Says the scorpion: "Welcome to the Middle East, Bitch!"
