How Muslims Can Enjoy Valentine's Day and Make the World a Better Place from Planck's Constant

Saint Valentine's Day, as it is celebrated in the modern world, has nothing to do with Saint Valentine (there were more than 14 men named Valentinus who were martyred).

February 14th was declared a Christian Holiday in 496 A.D., but its religious significance was lost a long time ago.

Take a thousand young lovers anywhere in the world who send each other Valentine's Day cards and ask them about Saint Valentine and I doubt you will find one out of that thousand who actually know the history of this holiday.

The only people who associate a saint with this day are Muslims who need the Christian connection in order to declare the day haram (forbidden) for their youth. Some Muslims even claim that the holiday is named after the person who caused the downfall of Cordoba, once the center of Islam in Spain.

That aside, the truth is, no infidel holiday at all may be celebrated by Muslims. By definition any non-Islamic culture contradicts Muslim values. I know what some of you want to say, Christian and Jewish culture cannot contradict Muslim values because, we are told by Muslims, Islam is the continuation of the same faithful religion as professed by the prophets who came before Mohammed: Abraham, Moses, and Jesus.

To ignorant infidels Muslims offer the lie that Islam is a sister religion to Christianity and Judaism and that they share the same values and that in the Quran itself, the People of the Book (as Christians and Jews are called) are respected and their Holy Scriptures venerated; what Muslims tell themselves is a different story (emphasis mine):

The Muslim's attitude towards this holiday should be clear:
1- He should not celebrate it, or join others in their celebrations of it, or attend their celebrations because it is forbidden to celebrate the festivals of non-Muslims.

Ath-Thahabi may Allaah have mercy upon him said: "If the Christians have a festival and the Jews have a festival, which is peculiar to them, then the Muslim should not join them in that, just as he does not join them in their religion or their direction of prayer."

This is so because the basic principles of the pious predecessors [As-Salaf As-Saalih] was Al-walaa' wal-baraa' (loyalty and friendship vs. disavowal and enmity), therefore, it is obligatory for every Muslim to follow this principle. He should love the Muslims and should not follow the non-Muslims; rather, he must be different from them. By doing so, he achieves immeasurable benefits, just as imitating them causes greater harm.

In addition to this, when the Muslims imitate non-Muslims, this makes the latter happy and fills their hearts with joy. If any Muslim girl celebrates this holiday because she sees Margaret or Hilary or whoever does so, then this undoubtedly reflects the fact that she is imitating them and approves of their behavior. But Allaah Says (what means): "O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allaah guides not the wrongdoing people." [Quran 5:51]

If Muslims share the same values and respect Christians and Jews why would imitating them cause harm, why would filling their hearts with joy be a bad thing?

If Muslims want to be faithful citizens in non-Muslim countries, they must not hold the values and institutions in contempt. They must assimilate, integrate, and become part of the culture. Otherwise they are dangerous parasites.

If Muslims want to be true citizens they must be allowed to celebrate St Valentine's Day. But I do not believe Muslims can truly enjoy living in a non-Muslim country. My suggestion is that they renounce their misbegotten and vile religion. Two things will happen:
