Why Muslims Cannot Adopt - A sordid Story of Sex
Adoption under Islamic law is different than commonly practiced in other cultures. The term that Muslims use for their version of adoption is called kafala, meaning "to feed," which is more descriptive of a foster parent than an adoptive parent. One may wonder why the Qur'an forbids Muslim parents to treat their adopted children the same as their biological children. For example, adopted children do not inherit from their adoptive parents and adopted children are not maharim (1) to their adoptive family, that is, they are not blood relatives and so a Muslim man may legally have sex with his adopted daughter (or with his adopted son's wife).
Why is this so? The reason is simple: Mohammed, the prophet of Islam, was a degenerate horny toad who had to have sex with every female his eyes came upon. But there was one young woman Mohammed could not bang, Zainab, his daughter-in-law, the wife of his adopted son Zayed. From time immemorial Arab culture considered a daughter-in-law the same as a daughter, regardless of whether the son was biological or adopted; read the full story in my article Mohammed Was Allowed to Be A Pedophile and Whoremonger by Scripture.
So how could Mohammed have his way with her? The solution: change the law by executive action. Mohammed had a "revelation" from Allah (2) which declared that adoptive parents are not considered blood relatives, and therefore their adopted children (and their spouses or children) are suitable for marriage and sex.
Great to be the Final Prophet.

In Islamic sharia legal terminology, a mahram is an unmarriageable kin with whom sexual intercourse would be considered incestuous, a punishable taboo.

Qur'an - Surat Al-'Aĥzāb 33:37
And [remember, O Muhammad], when you said to the one on whom Allah bestowed favor and you bestowed favor, "Keep your wife and fear Allah ," while you concealed within yourself that which Allah is to disclose. And you feared the people, while Allah has more right that you fear Him. So when Zayd had no longer any need for her, We married her to you in order that there not be upon the believers any discomfort concerning the wives of their adopted sons when they no longer have need of them. And ever is the command of Allah accomplished.
