Some of my readers may know that SWT added by devout Muslims after the name of Allah stands for "Subhana WaTa'ala," in English: "Pure is He and High". However, the PBH added by devout Muslims after the name of a prophet such as Jesus (PBH) or Mohammed (PBH) or sometimes (PBUH) is not from the Arabic but simply comes from the English meaning "Peace be upon Him."

In a like manner, sometimes you may see me add (SFB) after the name of a person who luckily was not born into Islam and yet for some absurd reason actually converted to the Muslim faith. For these kinds of individuals, I add the blessing (SFB) or "Shit for Brains" in order to fully describe their mental state in accepting a religion that has yet to emerge from the 7th century A.D.

I do not track any information about visitors once they leave my site. I may use cookies (small text files that are stored on visitors computers when they access my Web site) to collect this information. I may also allow unaffiliated third parties, such as advertisers, to serve cookies to visitors of my Web site. Visitors are always free to decline cookies, but in doing so they may not be able to use certain features on my Web site. The "help" segment of the toolbar on most browsers explains how to configure a browser to not accept new cookies, how to have the browser inform a user when they receive a new cookie, and how to erase cookies from their hard drives.

HOW DO I USE YOUR PERSONAL AND NON-PERSONAL INFORMATION?



I do not under any circumstances use, sell, or lease your email address except to personally contact you with a question if the need arises.

As for non-personal information, I only use it:

1) to allow you to make one-click purchases through Amazon or other advertisers that you click on.

2) to help diagnose problems with my server

3) to administer my Web site

4) to conduct internal reviews of my site ( e.g., to determine the number of visitors to the site)

5) to help me better understand visitors' use of my site, and

6) to protect the security or integrity of my site. Non-personal information will be used for purposes of conducting internal reviews of the site, monitoring the site, and providing a greater online experience for my visitors.

I may transfer or otherwise disclose information collected from visitors to my Web site to independent contractors or consultants if the disclosure will enable that party to perform a technical support function for me, or if required to do so by law. I will not disclose information I collect from my visitors to any marketing or business enterprise. 1. Yes, you can pimp your own site or particular post in response to either my article or comment made by another reader, however, do not link to a commercial site unless it's apropos the topic. For example, the following is a corporate blog post: The Value of Corporate Blogs, so unless we are talking about Voip or technology, don't bother linking anything irrelevant. If the article is about playboy models and you link to some other blog about playboy models, that's OK as long as you make an observation that's worth reading about or link to some really hot girls.

   It would be courteous, but not necessary, when you link to your own article that you also mention my post in that article.

2. You can be offensive, politically incorrect, and even threaten "Death to all Jews", but do not threaten a specific individual or post material that is libelous. For example, if you write that Ahmed so-and-so is a financier of Islamic terror, please also include authoritative link-proofs that this is true. Things that are self-evident need not be corroborated with links, such as, "Islam is a threat to Western Civilization."
3. Do not include any illegal statements (how to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge) or links to any illegal content. You can link to porn sites if it helps explain a relevant topic, but no child porn even if it's on topic, for example, if I'm talking about how Mohammed married a nine year old girl don't link to pictures of Muslims having sex with little girls or boys although you may link to photos like this if your point is that "Homosexuality in Islam is punishable by death but pederasty is permissible". You can link to hate sites that lie about Jews but only if it's on topic. Try to use your judgement.
4. Don't post the same comment more than once.
5. Stay on-topic. Stay on-topic. Stay on-topic. But if it's amusing, well ... OK. Also, if you want to wish me Happy Birthday and there is no particular place to post that sentiment, that's OK too. So, please, no How you doin?. It happens that I am always fine, so don't make small talk. If you don't have anything interesting to say, start your own blog where everyone else can ignore you. Send me the link so I can ignore you as well.
6. Do not post a comment that you've put on multiple blogs. If I like what you write, I will steal it and use it for blog-fodder in my next article. If I need to, I will respond to your comment in a blog post and use your words without needing to ask permission.
7. If you hate switching to uppercase for the first letter in proper names or in abbreviations then use all lowercase letters. IF YOU TYPE EVERYTHING IN UPPER CASE I WILL DELETE THE COMMENT IN ITS ENTIRETY EVEN IF YOU REVEAL WHO SHOT PRESIDENT KENNEDY!
8. Comments are not moderated. That means they post as soon as you enter them. I may allow comments even if they are silly or idiotic. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I maintain the right to delete any post or ban any commenter at my discretion. However, if it is not deleted, I do not in any way assume responsibility, legal or otherwise, for its content. I will allow Palestinians to post to sites even though I personally think these sites lie or distort the truth. But no "death to Bernie" comments. Those I take personally.

Therefore, you can be right wing, left wing, communist, I don't care. Write a cogent argument for your position and I'll allow it. I do believe in free speech. Just don't violate my 8 Rules of commenting.

As for photos, where I have been able to determine the source, the photo credit can usually be gotten by mousing over the photo. I host all photos that you see directly on my servers so as not to steal bandwidth from the sources of those photos. If you see a photo that is not properly credited please let me know.

Includes a distinction between inadvertent plagiarism and intentional plagiarism, providing suggestions for ways to avoid both.

Writing Tutorial Services at Indiana University Bloomington includes examples of appropriate and inappropriate paraphrasing of material, how to integrate quotations within a paraphrased section, and how to cite material in the text using MLA format. Preventing Plagiarism provides to links on the Internet categorized by subject or audience. Includes links to software and websites that ferret out plagiarized papers.

For Faculty Members

Guide to Plagiarism and Cyber-Plagiarism is an excellent site hosted by the library at the University of Alberta. Includes 2 sections. One is for faculty members about recognizing and teaching about plagiarism. The second is for students, describing the meaning and abuses of plagiarism. Includes a description of how and why students plagiarize and how to combat the different types.

Plagiarism and the Web is an article about the inappropriate use of electronic resources and the Internet by students. Provides guidelines for recognizing plagiarized sections of papers and ways to structure assignments that encourage academic honesty. Includes links to other articles about plagiarism and academic integrity.

A BRIEF CITATION GUIDE FOR INTERNET SOURCES IN HISTORY AND THE HUMANITIES is also useful as a citation guide in other disciplines.

Flickr FAQ, I'd rather people didn't blog my photos. How can I prevent that?

Go to Your Account and specify who sees the "Blog This" button on your photos. Removing this button makes it more difficult for people to blog your photos, but remember that anyone can copy and blog a public photo. If you'd rather this didn't happen, change your settings to make your photos private.

Dear Flickr member, not to worry, despite the fact that anyone can copy and blog a public photo, if you do not have a "Blog This" button on your account I will never use your photo without specific written permission.
