Of course, if a cartoonist has to pick a side, it's much safer to be anti-Israel than anti-Hamas. Oliphant could live in Tel Aviv without fear of his life for that cartoon. But if he made fun of Hamas, in what Muslim area of the world would he be safe? So when he depicts Israel as being as dangerous as Nazis, he knows that to be a lie; the only people who should fear Israelis are those that attack Israel with force of arms.
Why is it that we can't make beautiful, entertaining, mesmerizing commercials like this for American television? Why is this country filled with so many prudes?
I get a few urban legend emails every week from readers who wish for me to comment or blog on the matter. Almost every item can easily be validated as an Internet hoax, rumor, or urban myth by checking with the various debunking websites such as Snopes.com and urbanlegends.about.com. But those who forward these emails do not want the letter exposed as an urban legend, they want to believe it to be true.
The U.N. Human Rights Council on Thursday adopted a resolution condemning "defamation of religion" as a human rights violation. Of course, this was introduced by Pakistan as a curb on any speech against Islam. Certainly Muslim states would not want the resolution to be actually used against Muslims who say nasty things about filthy Crusaders and Jews.
Jumping off of bridges is the best way for a person to commit suicide and so preventing this is not only a waste of money but dangerous as well. If the city goes ahead with its plans, this poor shlub will now have to find a tall building to jump from or to walk in front of a speeding bus and thus possibly injuring or even killing those of us who actually enjoy living.
This is another entry in my category of "Stupid Businesses" and certainly when it comes to idiots running a business, no one does it better than eBay. I know, how can I criticize a business that does billions of dollars of business every quarter and is the leading auction venue on the Internet? Inertia.

One of the reasons, not the main reason, but one of the reasons we have so many fat children in America today, is that we have stopped making fun of fat kids. When I was younger we always made fun of lard-asses and the overly obese. The taunting made us concerned about our weight. Today there are no hobbles on the eating habits of children. When everyone made fun of you, then you knew it was the truth.
That's right - no matter how you phrase it, no matter the context, no matter how innocent, someone will be offended by a joke. President Obama's recent attempt at humor, while meant to be self-deprecating, wound up offending others. 
I have written previously that one of the problems in this country is that our prosecutors are running amuck, looking to criminalize the most harmless of actions.

There is no denying that corporate officers have completely lost touch with reality in regard to bonuses, fixing up offices, flying around in corporate jets, etc. Perhaps one good thing that might come out of all this is that stockholders may look more carefully at the egregious and obscene salaries/bonuses handed out to mere mortals. No person on this planets is worth a golden parachute in the tens or hundreds of millions of dollars.

When I was twelve years old (1957) I shined shoes on Saturdays to get money for comic books and movies. One of the ways I would get bigger tips was to offer to change worn out shoelaces. I'd say, "Hey mister, your laces are worn out, I'll change 'em for you, no charge."
Well, here is a quandary: On the one hand we have nuclear Iran headed by a madman who is waiting for the return of the Hidden Imam who, for Shiite Muslims, will usher in the cosmic struggle at the end of time resulting in the final victory of Islam over the infidels. On the other hand, we have Iran's Nuclear Program running on an unlicensed copy of Windows. I wonder how you cool a reactor when the dreaded blue screen comes up?
I spend a few hours every day updating my archived posts. I get a number of emails every week pointing out links that have died, or blogs that have closed shop, or spelling mistakes although that doesn't happen too often. Sometimes new information requires that I update older articles.
I have seen the Big Blue Screen of Death in Las Vegas, in fast food joints, at airports, in banks, on hotel TVs, almost everywhere. The one here is at the Toys'R'Us store at Times Square, New York. If the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's efforts to help Africa is anything like Windows then we can expect the continent one day to go into the Big Blue Screen of Death.

Jews thousands of years ago were as savage and barbaric as Muslims are today. It is true that honor killings are a cultural matter having nothing to do with Islam. There are honor killings going on today where none of the participants are in thrall to Islam. Muslims correctly assert that this Middle East tradition as been practiced since long before the arrival of Islam in AD 622 and it is disingenuous to blame Islam for honor killings.
I have written previously that Unions have killed our textile, railroad and automobile industry. They have also been killing the Newspaper industry for decades, fighting against typesetting equipment, offset printing, and anything that might automate the business. Sure, they eventually allowed news owners to get rid of manually inserted typesetting but only after years of costly struggles that saw thousands of newspapers close down. Then Unions begrudgingly allowed keyboard-activated typesetting such as Linotype but only after every non-union paper had it for years; more papers closed.

When I first started blogging three years ago I wrote that my purpose in blogging was to write about the same things that interest me in real life, which is to say, everything. But that only explained the what. I didn't mention the why. There are actually three reasons why I blog: the first is to leave a permanent record of the contents of my mind for my children and grandchildren. I expect this to take the next ten years to do.
In my previous post The Art of Firing Employees I wrote that I did not fire a worker who stole from me because she was making more money for me than she was stealing. Reader Cynthia left a comment asking, "but what if other employees picked up alice's habit and you now had widespread employee pilfering? would you fire the less profitable thieves and keep a profitable one? or what if a non-thief employee knew about alice, and started complaining that she was allowed to steal?"
Firing employees is never easy even if they are embezzling, stealing, or being violent or abusive toward your employees or customers. Sometimes, even if it seems you should fire someone, it may not be the wise business decision. Let me explain:

In a moment I am going to tell you how to clean the inside of your monitor screen, the side away from you that you cannot touch. But first, for the outside screen, if you are still staring at an old glass CRT monitor screen then cleaning it is quite simple: turn off the monitor and spray window cleaner onto a lint-free cloth and clean as you would a regular window. Then buff with a second, clean, lint-free cloth. However, never do this with the newer LCD screens.
