I have saved this page for posterity. It originally appeared at http://girlinshortshorts.blogspot.com/2009/07/end-of-beckys-blog.html but is now blocked.

Unless something changes this will be the last post on this blog.
Cripes--it's happened again--today, upon landing on the blog, you were greeted with this Content Warning, courtesy of Google Blogger:
“Some readers of this blog have contacted Google because they believe this blog's content is objectionable. In general, Google does not review nor do we endorse the content of this or any blog. For more information about our content policies, please visit the Blogger Terms of Service.”
Congratulations for being brave enough to continue on into my den of inequity. This is the only Google-identified porn site which featured a post on each day of the Easter Triduum---Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter.
It might also be the only piece of Google-identified smut to feature pro-life banners.
I am pretty certain that any readers, who took the time to bitch and moan to Google, were much more concerned about my politics, and ideological bent, than anything that actually offended their prurient sensibilities--this has historically been the case with this sort of thing on this blog.
Or was it the side shot of a bare boob that is the problem? But the Vatican publicly displays stuff more pornographic than that---until today I have never posted an image of a serial murderer doing the Full Monty.
No--- they are offended that I do not worship the water that Barack Obama walks on—but when I was a pretty severe critic of George Bush these types could not get enough of me.
Liberals can be such spoil sports.
This blog chugged along for two and a half years without any problems, but with the Dawn of the Age of Obama—nothing but trouble. The blog has never changed, and it certainly has not changed since May—the last time this happened, and Google, after an avalanche of complaints from my readers, decided that I am not really a purveyor of smut and removed the content warning splash page.
There is no doubt this is an attempt to marginalize me. Readership will dramatically decrease. In forty eight hours I will no longer appear in the search engines under the topics I discuss--it will just be described as offensive content. Besides, I am quite sure many folks, understandably, don't continue past the "objectionable content" warning. And those readers who are actually looking for porn will be pretty disappointed--and will never come back--which is actually fine with me..
Its the same old story--putting down conservative women (even if they are libertarian-minded—but liberals don't really understand the distinction)-- especially if they happen to have a brain and are gay.
It's happened before with Digg--I was too much for the homophobic progressive pseudo-Geeks (at the same time they banned a number of other sites published by members of the girls' softball team). Google Adsense cut me off for a while. But later I was reinstated, and ,unlike Google Blogger, they made a notation in my account file not to automatically take action against me just because a few people don't have anything better to do than harass me.
The best way to get the attention of Google Blogger on this, short of certified snail mail, is to post something in the Blogger Help Forum. . I really do appreciate the support--and it did work the last time.
If Google persists in deferring to mob rule, and the blacklisting continues--- sometime in the future I will create a new website with an independent domain. But unless I get delisted I am not going to waste my time posting here—this is the end of the blog.
I really hate giving in to stupid people.
But lets face it, they rule the world.
UPDATE: As I was saying-- in a matter of hours the blog has been essentially scrubbed from the search engines. If you google "Just a Girl in shorts" this is what you get:
This is by far not the first time there has been mob censorship through use of the Google flagging system. It was noticed back in 2005 just a week after the feature was introduced--it's another form of the Web 2.0 collectivist phenomena Jaron Lanier calls Digital Maoism.
A big thanks to Carmilla for posting a supporting note in the Google Blogger Help forum. If inclined, you can go there and just second her thoughts--I have also posted a comment on the forum here, which if so inclined you can ditto. I know, from time to time, the Googlers do get off their pampered millennial butts, and take a few minutes to read the forum.
UPDATE: This guy over at The Real Blogger (who claims to have the inside scoop on Google Blogger) is chastising those of you nice boys and girls who have pointed out to Google, on the Google Blogger Help Forum, the injustice here. He claims that the splash page has been removed--and we are not clearing our caches-- as of Sunday, July 19, at 1:00 a.m. PDT I can not replicate his results.
If he needs further proof, I suggest that this helpful fellow check the Feedjit Live Feed in the right hand margin--if he takes the time to do this, he will notice that almost all of the recent hits are "direct"--this is because they are coming through the splash warning page.
The problem with Real Blogger is he is one of those ubiquitous little brown nosers, we all admired and loved so much back in grade school.
But being a good girl, I will do as Real Blogger instructed me to:
"You need to contact your readers, and advise them to knock it off. You aren't bothering Blogger (this is a weekend) - but you are interfering with other bloggers being helped, because of their Denial Of Service technique. Please instruct your readers to clear cache, and restart their browser, if they continue to see an interstitial when surfing to your blog."
This is the comment I left for him, in the unlikely event he decides not to publish it:
"I am not going to tell my readers any such thing--and I really don't think the volume is resulting in a DOS.
I would love to be able to give my readers the news that the “interstitial warning” (what a wonderfully geeky word) has been removed—if it was true—but it is not—I have cleaned the cache in both IE 8 and Firefox 3.51 and I can not replicate your results.
As far as whether it is doing any good—I know it is beneath you, but if you read the article you would learn that in fact when this happened last May, the Googlers responded to this type of notice (despite your insistence that the fact it is a weekend is relevant—the previous interstitial warning was removed on a Saturday evening).
If the people that run these Internet companies created a meaningful way to communicate with them (other than just a slick way to hot flag perceived violations) then the Blogger Help Forum would not be the proper place to address this issue---but there is no alternative other than certified snail mail.
You take being a number 3 ranked helper on the Blogger Help forum way too seriously—relax my friend.
~Becky"
UPDATE: MassResistance is a rather offensive homophobic organization that I have personally done battle with. But we have something in common--the liberal mob felt their voice should be marginalized and censored--and Google was happy to oblige by putting up an "offensive content" splash page. I just know there is an overlap between the group that flagged MassResistance and the ones that flagged my blog.
Apparently Google does not feel that the content rises to the level of "hate speech" or per the terms of the TOS, the MassResistance blog would be totally banned.
The mob and Google just feel, since they do not agree with the ideas in the blog, it should be marginalized and censored.
This is about more than me getting my shorts in a knot--it's kind of scary stuff.
The Electronic Freedom Foundation should really call Google on it.
This is why the simple solution of shutting up and moving to a new platform is not really satisfactory to me.
