CODEPINK Honors that coward Murtha
CODEPINK,
CODEPINK Thanks MurthaCODEPINK co-founder Gael Murphy and DC coordinator Allison Yorra met with Congressman Murtha to thank him for his courageous stand on Iraq. We presented him with our pink badge of courage and pink flowers sent by CODEPINK members nationwide. Rep Murtha was very appreciative of these gestures as he has been receiving many responses to his public denouncement of the war. Murtha said that while many of the calls and emails have been supportive, those opposed have been quite vitriolic. He stated that the best support of his position and of the troops would be to ask legislators to support H.J Res 73 (Murtha's resolution). In addition to the flowers, Murtha requested that we use additional donations for the wounded at Walter Reed. DC CODEPINK along with Veterans for Peace, Military Families Speak Out, US Labor Against the War and other peace groups involved in the weekly vigil at Walter Reed recently delivered baskets of goodies to the wounded at Walter Reed. Together, with Murtha's office, we will be continuing this outpouring of kindness and support to the wounded soldiers from CODEPINK."
Let me make two points:
- J.J Res 73 in short is : "Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That:
SECTION 1. The deployment of United States forces in Iraq, by direction of Congress, is hereby terminated and the forces involved are to be redeployed at the earliest practicable date.
"Let me translate this into plain English: "Resolved by the cowardly Senate and defeatist House of Representatives of the United States of America in yellow-backed Congress assembled, That:
We cut and run.
- When CODEPINK says peace groups involved in the weekly vigil at Walter Reed recently delivered baskets of goodies, they mean they stalk and harass our wounded heroes.
For those of you who wonder how a war hero could take such a cowardly position on Iraq, wonder no more: Murtha's War Hero Status Called Into Question.

Rantburg,
Code Pink Praises MurthaCode Pink was launched in 2002 by approximately 100 women opposed to a U.S. preemptive strike against Iraq. The group has conducted "vigils" in front of the White House and outside the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
As Cybercast News Service previously reported Code Pink was criticized for picketing the military hospital holding signs that read "Maimed for a Lie" and "Enlist Here to Die for Halliburton."
