Cheney shoots lawyer in hunting accident
By Bernie on 12 Feb 2006
I don't understand, a lawyer was shot in the face. So, What's the fuss? It's not like a human being was hurt.
But seriously, when asked how he could have mistaken the 6 ft attorney for a quail, Cheney responded, "I swear he looked just like John Kerry and I freaked." Certainly a reasonable reaction. Anyone else in the same situation would have taken the shot likewise.

Cheney shoots lawyer in hunt accident"Never sneak up behind Dick Cheney when he has a gun in his hand. That is the painful lesson learned by Texas lawyer Harry Whittington, 78, in a hunting accident at the weekend.
Mr Whittington, the United States vice-president, and a third person went quail shooting on Saturday at one of the grandest ranches in Texas.
While Mr Cheney and the third man laid in wait for the quail, Mr Whittington approached them from behind without signalling his presence. Just then the quail were flushed out.
The owner of the ranch, Katharine Armstrong, witnessed the incident. 'The vice-president didn't see him,' she told the Associated Press news agency. 'He picked out a bird and shot and, my God, Harry was in the line of fire and got peppered pretty good.
'It broke the skin,' she said. 'It knocked him silly. But he was fine. He was talking. His eyes were open. It didn't get in his eyes or anything like that.'
Mrs Armstrong added that these things happen 'from time to time - you know, I've been peppered pretty well myself'."
An observation: the liberal press, in order to hide the shame of their craven non-printing of the Mohammed cartoons [out of respect - yeah right] has finally been able to find cartoons which they can print without fear of reprisal, see below, probably because Cheney was already out of birdshot. [Sorry - I had to get that in]. But the relentless circus of the Cheney shooting continues.

Scalia/Cheney hunting trip story gets even worseTwo weeks ago, administration critics and sensible people everywhere howled upon learning that Dick Cheney joined Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia for a hunting trip at a private camp in Louisiana, just a few weeks before Scalia and the rest of the high court will hear Cheney's appeal of lawsuits challenging the secrecy of his office's energy task force.
Dems noted the obvious impropriety of a judge hanging out with a defendant before a trial, but Scalia refused to even consider recusing himself from Cheney's case. Several Dem senators even wrote to Rehnquist to ask him to intervene in the matter, but he declined, saying the decision was Scalia's to make
So here's a question for the liberal media to answer: "With whom would you feel safer - duck hunting with Cheney (1 injured) or taking a moonlit ride with Ted Kennedy (1 dead)? Oh - was I just a bit insensitive? Shoot me.
