Ritter warns U.S. will soon Invade Iran
By Bernie on 09 Feb 2006
Well, this is something we've been hearing for years: The former U.N. weapons inspector who mistakenly said Iraq disarmed long before the U.S. invasion in 2003 is warning Americans to prepare for a war with Iran:

Ex-U.N. inspector: Iran's next: Ritter warns that another U.S. invasion in Mideast is imminent
'We just don't know when, but it's going to happen,' Scott Ritter said to a crowd of about 150 at the James A. Little Theater on Sunday night.
Ritter described how the U.S. government might justify war with Iran in a scenario similar to the buildup to the Iraq invasion. He also argued that Iran wants a nuclear energy program, and not nuclear weapons. But the Bush administration, he said, refuses to believe Iran is telling the truth."
What Ritter left out is that this time all of Europe agrees with Bush.
But regardless - I hope Ritter is right about the US nuking Iran, unfortunately we do not have the testicles to do it. If the US would just give the Israelis a nod, it would be done. If there is any country that deserves a can of whoopass, it's Iran.
Of course, an intelligent person might ask Ritter how he can be so sure that Iran intends only the most peaceful uses for nuclear power. Did he get that assurance directly from the President of Iran? Only suicidal maniacs would take the word of another maniac about his peaceful intentions. Persian ex-pats know better than Ritter:
Persian Journal,
Iran president a ticking time bomb in Middle EastMuslim protests over cartoon depictions of the Prophet Muhammad spread across the Arab world like homicide bombers' shrapnel through the bodies of Jordanian children at a wedding. It seemed no European flag was safe from the wrath of the mindless minions of the religion of peace.
As the world stared aghast, somewhere in Iran the real news of the day was taking place. Machinery hummed as uranium was enriched, preparing the weapon for the inevitable return of the Mahdi. Who is the Mahdi? If you don't know his story, you don't know what's going on in the Middle East.
Let me be perfectly clear. Under no circumstances should the Islamic Republic of Iran be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons. Iran is a nation led by lunatics. I'm talking about the kind of crazy you typically only see in "Star Trek" movies. Did you watch "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan?" Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad makes Khan look well adjusted.
