Cost of the defense of Freedom

The shmoo report asks one question of those who criticize Bush and the USA for this war and the defense of freedom: How else would you combat the Muslim threat represented by Osama Bin Laden?
We are more in danger now than when we were fighting Hitler. Even if Hitler had won WWII, it would have been impossible for the Nazis with their small population to have occupied the entire world. If radical Muslims win however, they would instantly have an army of hundreds of millions. The few moderates would be overwhelmed and would, as they do now, sit quietly while the extremists take over.
And just as Reagan outspent the Soviets, we must outspend our enemies:

Our friends and allies Saudi Arabia and Russia, among others jump to the front of the line to dish out millions of dollars in support of the terrorist group Hamas. After last weeks suicide bombing in Tel Aviv, where 9 Israelis were murdered, the money started flowing in at an alarming rate. Hamas and friends are all smiles as the money for weapons continues to roll in.
The amount we spend on the War in Iraq is not as much as we have spent altogether on the The War on Drugs, but at least fighting Islamic Terror, oops - I mean fighting misguided abusers of Islam, is something that I am willing to pay for.
If we stopped this silly War on Drugs, we could afford to retire the national debt.
