Political Correctness in the News
Americans aren't the only ones suffering from political correctness; other countries are just as bad.
BBC News, 'Muslim' adverts banned from Tube
Posters with the phrase "America’s latest hero is a Muslim straight out of jail” has been banned from the Tube [subway] by London Underground. LU said it will not show the posters from a 1 million pound advertising campaign for new TV series "Sleeper Cell” until creators remove the word Muslim from the text. It claims it will offend people and it is trying to be sensationalist.
Allah Forbid the words Muslim and jail appear in the same sentence.
The Hindu, 7 May 2006, Malayali youth found hanging in Dubai
Dubai, May 05: A Keralite [Indian man was] found dead hanging from a tree near Jumeirah beach in Dubai. The man was identified as Sheehan, 27. The police was informed by a passer-by about the dead body hanging on a tree yesterday morning. On rushing to the site, we removed the body from the tree top and found some cuts on one of his hands, the Khaleej Times quoted a local police source as saying. Police are investigating the cause of death and did not rule out any possibilities of a foul play in the death of the deceased.
Police... did not rule out any possibilities of a foul play. Well, I'm glad to hear that! I guess in Dubai, foreign workers hanging dead from trees does not always mean you were murdered. There's more to the story involving Muslim gangs, but we won't read about it.
uexpress, Can't Possibly Be True
Teachers at several nursery schools in Oxfordshire, England, have been encouraging kids to learn the verse "Baa, baa, black sheep/Have you any wool?" without the word "black," but in its place a variety of emotions (e.g., "Baa, baa, sad sheep") or colors (including "Baa, baa, rainbow sheep") because they believe that kids with black skin might feel disrespected.
I suppose it won't be long before we begin to redact the word black from Wild Life Posters that warn:
Black bears are dangerous. They can and do kill people.Black bears are curious and adaptable. They quickly become accustomed to human activity, which leads to aggressive food gathering habits. Black bear have also been known to stalk people – following them or circling to approach from ahead.
PoliceOne, Phoenix police investigate 20 recent shootings
Authorities investigating a series of more than 20 shootings in the Phoenix area are looking for possible links to four more, including the fatal shooting of a man at a bus stop last spring.
The police in the above case have no suspects but you can be sure that political correctness will steer them away from a similar case involving John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo, accused of shooting 17 people, killing 12 and wounding five, in Alabama, Louisiana, Maryland, Virginia, Washington state and Washington, D.C. As many of us recall Muhammad was active in Louis Farrakhan's Nation of Islam, apparently helping with security. Of course, being Muslim does not make one a terrorist. However, being Muslim would also make one not care if he were killing random infidels.
New Zealand May 5, 2006Their court ordeal may be over, but a Bay of Plenty couple won't be forgiving the armed attackers who brutalised them and changed their lives forever.
Peter and Maggie Bentley were still angry on Friday as the last of three men behind the home invasion was sent to jail.
It has been 18 months since the Bentleys first appeared on our television screens after being terrorised by armed attackers, who bashed Peter to within an inch of his life. More
Interestingly you will not find the race of the attackers mentioned in the paper. They are Maori and mentioning that in the New Zealand press may insult other Maoris.
An independent panel — commissioned by the BBC — seems to have sided with what Israeli critics of the BBC have been saying for years. In a report out today, the panel says the BBC does not "consistently give a full and fair account" of the Middle East conflict, adding, "In some ways the picture is incomplete and, in that sense, misleading."What's more, the panel urged the BBC to "call terrorist acts 'terrorism,'" insisting the term is "clear and well understood." Like the BBC, some news organizations, such as Reuters, have adopted policies barring the use of the words "terrorist" and "terrorism.
Rep. Patrick Kennedy said Friday he is entering a drug rehabilitation program, following the car accident Thursday in which he slammed into a security barrier on Capitol Hill. "I simply do not remember getting out of bed or being pulled over by police... That is not how I want to live my life," he said.
In a curiously related matter, I have been unable to find any women who might have turned up dead from drowning during the same time period that Kennedy was drunk.
