Imagine yourself a savage pedophile with delusions of military grandeur and a desire to create a new religion based on complete submission to you and your desires. You take a look at the two dominant religions of the day and you pick the most brutal parts out of each.

Judaism, by the first century A.D. had already discarded the vengeful notion of "an eye for an eye...." In fact, Rabbinical Authorities at that time had already called the "Death Penalty" a barbaric practise not worthy of civilized peoples. But Mohammed liked "an eye for an eye" so that even unto the present day in Saudi Arabia you will see public hacking off of pickpocket hands and villagers practising it throughout the Muslim world, see disgusting photo of children carrying souvenirs of hands and feet hacked off for some minor crime.

Stonings for adultery, hanging for minor religious offenses, the subjugation of women, all the primitive detritus that Jews and Christians had long ago discarded were cherry-picked by Mohammed for his "Religion of Tolerance". Indeed, there are wholesale borrowings from Judaism but without the understanding behind the practises. Take Kosher for example. Muslims are supposed to eat only HALAL foods. Whereas KOSHER means proper or correct, HALAL means permissible. Among many Muslims, simply reciting "In the name of God the Beneficent the Merciful" is enough to render the food HALAL. KOSHER on the other hand, entails making sure the animal is actually clean, free of disease, has not suffered and requires a certification as to its preparation. I won't go into all the details, but Mohammed merely copied a bit of tradition without understanding the reasoning behind it.
