Mychal Bell is an idiot and a thug

'Jena 6' teen posts $45,000 bail, leaves jailMychal Bell's release on $45,000 bail came hours after a prosecutor confirmed he will no longer seek an adult trial for the 17-year-old. Bell, one of the teenagers known as the "Jena 6," still faces trial as a juvenile in the December beating in this small central Louisiana town.
It is sad that the prosecutor went overboard initially on this matter because Mychal Bell may now get off lightly because of all the media attention and the circus that usually accompanies Al Sharpton.
Mychal Bell is not a civil rights activist fighting against injustice and inequality. His previous convictions for violence and property crimes show him to be a thug as most violent criminals are. Worst of all, he was already on probation while committing some of these crimes and the current one:

Bell denied bond due to criminal historyLaSalle Parish District Attorney Reed Walters pointed out that Bell was placed on probation until his 18th birthday -- Jan. 18, 2008 -- after an incident of battery on Dec. 25, 2005. After being placed on probation, he was adjudicated of three other crimes, the two in September and another charge of criminal damage to property that occurred on July 25, 2006.

If anything, it looks like Bell was being given break after break. That he didn't stay out of trouble and be thankful for those breaks proves he's an idiot. That's it - no lengthy analyses. If he gets off lightly now, I have no doubt we will be hearing about Mr. Bell in a genuine murder trial.
