Brits Prefer a Licensed Killer to Santa Claus

A new reader of mine, The Editrix, who writes the excellent blog Roncesvalles (1) wasn't thrilled with the male examples in my article Christmas Hotties, and so left this comment:

Sorry, but the males (apart from the old and fat ones, who do not count) look more like gay icons to me than something a mature and red-blooded woman would enjoy. No Sean Connery pics?

As many of you already know, I may not be a dhimmi but I am a slave to my readers; here for your enjoyment is Sean Connery in full Christmas regalia.

And if you are wondering if this is a doctored photo, I can assure you that I got it directly from Reuters, a news media with unquestioned integrity. [For more like this see Celebrities Dressed as Santa Contest]

The above related non-sequitur led me to the title of this article when I came across this two-year-old survey:

Sean Connery beats Santa as UK's most wanted Guardian Angel

Given the choice, more Brits would have Sean Connery as their Guardian Angel than Santa, according to new research from AXA. Research among more than 1000 Britons found that the former Bond star was the number one choice with 15% of the nation selecting Sean Connery as the person they would most like watching over them.
...

Paul Bennett, AXA Protection Marketing Manager commented,

"We all want someone to look out for us, and while we were surprised that Sean Connery pipped Santa Claus to the position of Britain's most wanted Guardian Angel, perhaps it says something about the fact that we as a nation want to rely on real-life solutions and answers.

I believe that in their hearts, the Brits are looking for a James Bond type hero to help them fight against the Islamic threat to British culture they now face. Anyone living in a city with even a small number of Muslim immigrants lives in fear of them.

Artist Admits to Fear of Islam

Britain’s contemporary artists are fêted around the world for their willingness to shock but fear is preventing them from tackling Islamic fundamentalism. Grayson Perry, the cross-dressing potter, Turner Prize winner and former Times columnist, said that he had consciously avoided commenting on radical Islam in his otherwise highly provocative body of work because of the threat of reprisals.

But, you may protest, aren't Muslims as well threatened by British infidels, how about that Muslim Member of Parliament who resigned because of death threats:

The Rise and Fall of a British Muslim MP

The election in May of 1997 of Mohammad Sarwar, a Pakistan-born Muslim, to British Parliament was hailed as a momentous event in British history. Taken as a sign of cross-cultural tolerance, Sarwar’s success was seen by many as an important milestone on the country’s road to becoming a truly multicultural society.

Eager to assert his Muslim identity from early on, Sarwar took the oath of office on the Koran, bucking a centuries’ old tradition of pledging allegiance to the Queen. Ever mindful of the sanctity of that Holy Writ, Sarwar insisted that the book be placed inside a protective envelope so as not to be accidentally "touched by one not of the faith."

Ten years on, Mohammad Sarwar has announced his intention to resign his seat. His decision comes after a two-year long campaign of death threats and abuse that made him fear not only for his own life but also for those of his children and grandchildren.

On first reading you might suspect his intimidation was caused by local racists or extreme British nationalists but you would be wrong. His troubles come from fellow Muslims. As to why they want him killed click the link to the FrontPageMag article; it is so brutal, so barbaric and so vile that I cannot make my fingers type the details, but I warn you, if you have any humanity in your soul, it will turn you into an Islamophobe like me.

I am taking a guess here, but I assume the name of her blog, Roncesvalles, refers to Roncesvalles and the Legend of Roland
