Rosebud Yellow Robe Frantz, member of the Lakota-Oyate (Sioux) tribe [and a great-grandniece of Chief Sitting Bull] and her father Chief Chauncey Yellow Robe with President Calvin Coolidge in 1927. Obviously no one mistook President Calvin Coolidge as an Indian. I have no problem with politicians dressing in the native outfits of those who they are visiting.

Obama wearing a Somali Headdress doesn't make me think he's a Muslim, however considering what happened on 9/11 American politicians should be smart enough to distance themselves from anything Islamic. If my name were Alphonse Hitler after WWII and I wanted to enter politics I certainly would have changed my name even if I weren't even distantly related to Adolph Hitler. And I certainly would not have worn a Nazi cap if I visited Germany after the war. After 9/11 it is quite indecent for someone to carry an Islamic name, especially if they are trying to enter politics. But that's Hussein's decision although I hear that Michelle Obama doesn't like anyone to mention Barack's middle name. What, are they ashamed? If so, there is a legal remedy to that shame - change the name.

President Bush, Chinese President Hu Jintao, Russian President Putin [Getty via AFP]U.S. President George W. Bush, right, walks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, center, and Chinese President Hu Jintao on Sunday at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Liberals in rebuttal will point to this photo of President Bush wearing a Vietnamese ao dai and ask why can he wear the outfit of a former enemy and Obama can't? Well, the simple answer is that Islam is still our current enemy, not our former.

So while Obama in a Muslim headdress doesn't shock me, he could have exercised circumspection, but he seems not to worry about things like that or that he's a member of a racist church.
