Serenity Now
There is nothing more stressful than a presidential campaign and not for the candidates - rather for the rest of us. We're the ones that have to listen to the dissemblings, deceptions and distortions of our favorite politicians. The careful observer may note the discrepancy between past actions and present beliefs of both Hillary and McCain and thus worry and wonder which campaign promises either intends to keep, while those opposed to Obama may rightfully worry that he will indeed keep his promises.
Here's what I mean: In Hillary's case, although she has promised to get the troops out of Iraq within a matter of a few months, what she really intends is this:
As president, one of Hillary's first official actions would be to convene the Joint Chiefs of Staff, her Secretary of Defense, and her National Security Council. She would direct them to draw up a clear, viable plan to bring our troops home starting with the first 60 days of her Administration [Hillary for President].
But if they report that there is no clear, viable way to bring the troops home in less than 5 years, she can come back to the public and announce that for the sake of the security of the country we cannot remove the troops at this time. I believe if it came down to the survival of this country or standing by her principles, that our country would come first.
Equally well, McCain is presently opposed to water-boarding, but if it came down to it, if the military told him that a certain prisoner held the secret locations of nuclear bombs set to go off in a few American cities, you can bet your butt that McCain would personally be in the interrogation room pulling the guy's toenails out by the roots. I believe if it came down to the survival of this country or standing by his principles, that our country would come first.
Only Obama Would Stick to his Principles
On the other hand, Obama would stick to his plan to get our troops out, no matter the consequences, and he would never agree to anything more stringent than kindly asking a terrorist for any information he may have on the matter of nuclear bombs, no matter the consequences. Because he would stick to his principles regardless of the consequences for our country, I think Obama would be the best person to be President to make gold go to $4,000 an ounce or higher. The last time we had a President who preferred peace to war, regardless of the consequences, was Jimmy Carter in 1979 who drove gold to over $800 per ounce ($2,000 in present dollars).
Since I own substantial amounts of gold, Obama is my pick for President. Other people who will do well under an Obama administration: those who own mortuaries since we can expect more civilian deaths once the terrorists see we are indeed paper tigers; the Mexican health care industry as Americans flee socialized medicine in the US just as Canadians presently flee south to the US from their failed health-care system; the Chinese who will finally become the number one superpower in the world as the American economy collapses under Obama's version of socialism while they take their country into a true Capitalist paradise - there is an irony there somewhere.
