When Americans Get Insulted - the Absolut Ad
Visiting the comment section of other bloggers who have posted their outrage regarding the Absolut map version of what the Western US should look like, I read that "We are taking it too seriously," "it's just an ad," "we're having our leg pulled," "we're xenophobes." In a like manner, I suppose Jews should just take it in sport when Ahmedinejad wants Israel removed from the world, on maps as well as the physical entity itself.
One of my readers commented:
And printing the details of the marketing manager so all small minded people can complain to him explaining why they are so insecure that they could possibly get offended by a silly ad that was designed to make them feel offended.
Do you really not know when you someone is yanking your chain?
And the rest of the world watches and laughs at the patriotic Americans. Again.
Yes, let the world laugh at us silly Americans: we get insulted and we ask our fellow Americans to write letters of complaint. When Muslims get insulted, how many Imams or Islamic bloggers ask their fellow Muslims to write letters of complaint to Dutch or Danish Embassies?
Boy, we Americans sure set a bad example for the rest of the world.
Of course, if illegal Mexican immigrants didn't raise the Mexican flag on American soil perhaps we wouldn't be so sensitive.
For new visitors to my site, don't bother trying to call me a xenophobe, you should know that I happen to be for unrestricted, but documented immigration for all ethnic groups and races except for those who submit to the Islamic faith.
