Difference Between Israel and Muslim Countries
Like almost every country in the world, Burma has a sizable Muslim population, almost two million in fact. The number of Jews in Burma? A staggering 20 (1) Yangon, the capital city with about an equal number in the rest of the country. This has not stopped Israeli aid organizations such as Tel Aviv-based IsraAID (an umbrella organisation of more than 35 Israeli and Jewish nongovernmental organizations) from sending relief volunteers to Myanmar (2).
Tiny Israel has raised more money for relief efforts than the entire 1.5 billion Muslim world.
IsraeliGirl has photos and a short interview with Israeli Aid workers.
Yes, there were some trivial Muslim aid attempts: Muslim Aid (3) has raised about $200,000 for the relief effort in Burma. Sadly, with trillions in oil revenues, Muslim countries are a bit stingy with their money. Islam does not make for a generous people.
A tip of the turban to Israel Matzav for the link to this video of Israeli rescue workers in Myanmar:
Of course, Burma ignored the Israeli help and publicly thanked the shabby Muslim efforts. Pakistan sent two planeloads of relief supplies.
Pakistan Daily, 11 May 2008, Myanmar praises Muslim Aid efforts
Ambassador of Myanmar to Pakistan Mr. Tin Oo... thanked the Pakistani authorities and people of Pakistan for assistance in this crucial time and said that Myanmar greatly regards this gesture of good will.
Muslim Aid is a UK charity set up in 1985 by British Muslim organisations - western Muslims. Rich, loaded, egregiously wealthy Saudis, on the other hand, will not contribute money unless it goes to setting up jihadi mills.

Baltimore Jewish Times, 14 May 2008, Burmese Jew to Return Home
When the Samuels family moved to Burma about 80 years ago from Iraq to pursue business interests in the rice and teakwood trade, the community numbered in the thousands. Most Burmese Jews fled to Japan during World War II. The rest left when the military seized power in 1962 and nationalized many of the businesses...
Samuels’ family stayed and watched as the community dwindled to about 20. Four are in his family—his father, Moses; his mother, Nelly; and his two sisters, Kazna, 29, and Dina, 31.

Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israel flies in relief volunteers to Myanmar
Some experts are saying that the impact of Cyclone Nargis, which struck Myanmar on May 3, could be worse than the 2004 tsunami, if relief isn't flown in immediately. Experts estimate that 1.5 million people have been affected by the cyclone, and some aid agencies believe as many as 100,000 people were killed in the disaster.
After the news broke, members of Israel's volunteer umbrella organization IsraAID (The Israel Forum for International Humanitarian Aid), started brainstorming about what they could do. They decided to send a small expert team of doctors, nurses and water specialists to Myanmar to provide immediate relief.

Muslim Aid, Cyclone Nargis
Muslim Aid would like to say a big THANK YOU to all our donors who have contributed to our Myanmar appeal and raised a fantastic £105,000. Your amazing response to our live appeals, email shots and mosque collections has made the unimaginable possible for the thousands of cyclone survivors who have been left homeless by the disaster; many will wake today with clean water, food and utensils.
