As of July 2008 Iraq had a population of 28,221,181. 510 killed out of 28 million makes the death rate 21.85 per 100000 annualized. Interestingly there are 12 cities in America more deadly than the war zone in Iraq [United States cities by crime rate - Wiki]:

I don't have to point out that these are all black-majority cities. Probably just a co-incidence. New Orleans used to be the murder capital of America but Katrina dispersed most of the population of the Big Easy so that other cities where they went to could have a rise in their murder rates. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson should stop broadcasting the lie that blacks die disproportionately in America's wars:

The claim of disproportionate minority casualties wasn’t true during the Vietnam War, where the record indicates that 86 percent of those who died during the war were white and 12.5 percent were black, from an age group in which blacks comprised 13.1 percent of the population. It is even less true today.

If Al Sharpton wants to do right by black youth he should be encouraging them to leave the big cities and join the army - where it's a lot safer for them.

But this was never really an issue of trying to save black lives, truth be told, this was a leftist political tactic to try to make us fail in Iraq:

Even lily-white Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., pandering to black voters, parroted this complaint. But the facts show that these claims turned out to be false.

“Black enlistees have been attracted to positions in the armed forces that do not involve direct combat, opting instead for jobs that provide marketable job skills after their terms are up, such as unit administration and communications,” FrontPageMagazine.com observed. “In addition, blacks in the military do considerably better than their counterparts in the civilian population, earning on average $32,000 annually, compared to $27,900 in the private sector. All in all, one can hardly make the case that blacks in the armed forces are being discriminated against or are bearing a ‘disproportionate share of the burden.’"

That's what liberals do: pander, obfuscate, and lie even if it endangers this country as long as they gain power. I know that Hillary, Sharpton, Jesse Jackson have these statistics, they have access to the same reports and studies as the rest of us; they know that it is whites who disproportionately die in America's wars. The question is, why are they not pandering to the white vote? Too easy to bamboozle blacks and Hispanics?

The L.A. Times reports today — in a small story on page A9 — that a new study shows that whites account for the vast majority of fatalities in Iraq:

The majority of soldiers and Marines killed or wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan were young, white, enlisted personnel from active-duty units, according to a study released Friday by the federal Government Accountability Office.

The study was ordered by Charlie Rangel, who is no doubt bitterly disappointed by these results.
