Shivering Cowards and Defeatists Still Haunt us Today

Our men and women in the military cannot find a better friend than Beth at Blue Star Chronicles. I have proudly been a member of the Blue Star Blogroll within a few months of starting my blog. I can always read fascinating articles on our Armed Forces and today's post was no exception. Here's something I didn't know:

The first Honor Flight took place in May 2005. The non profit organization was created to honor America’s veterans by providing them a way to visit and be able to reflect at their memorials in Washington, D.C. The first year twelve veterans took flights to Washington, now there is a waiting list and a country wide out reach to veterans who will get this opportunity.First priority is given to the oldest vets, at this point, that is World War II veterans and other veterans with terminal illnesses.
This year the Honor Flight Bluegrass Chapter will pay special tribute to Lt. Howard Enoch, Jr. from Marion, Kentucky. His remains were just identified a month ago by the Department of Defense and have been repatriated 63 years after the 20 year old pilot was shot down near the village of Doberschutz, Germany which was behind Soviet lines at the end of the war in May 1945.
Not just the dead were in Soviet areas but tens of thousands of alive American POWs who were never returned to the US because our country lacked the testicles to take on the Soviets after the war.
It's a shame that Undersecretary of War Robert P. Patterson did not heed General Patton's advice after the German surrender in 1945 to tell the Red Army where their border is and give them a deadline to get back across or else.
Unfortunately we had back then defeatist cowards who refused to see the Soviets as a threat to world peace as we have now the same type of shivering peepants in Congress and running for President who refuse equally to see Islam as a threat to world peace.
All these years while the left was crying to give peace a chance - we did - with the Soviets. And how well did that work out for us? Peace-pussy Jimmy Carter did nothing when the Iranians took Americans hostage. That show of weakness led to Soviet worries that Iran's Islamic revolution would spread to Soviet Socialist Republics with substantial Muslim populations which led to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan to make it a buffer against Muslim expansion which led to the growth in power of al Qaeda which led directly to 9/11.
Giving peace a chance is a meaningless phrase uttered by idiot liberals who put their faith in the ultimate goodness of ruthless dictator thugs. I am not that willing to let my life and the fate of the world hang on such a futile hope. What has really kept us from winning sooner in Iraq is not giving war a chance. The surge in Iraq worked because we finally stopped pussyfooting around. Had the weak-kneed Democrats insisted all these years on really fighting instead of retreating we would have had the will to do the surge earlier.
I lay the blame for the deaths of our soldiers in Iraq on their door.
