For Want of a Nail
In my previous article Sony Corporation Caves After one Muslim Complaint I pointed out that after a single Muslim complaint the Sony Corporation trembled at the prospect of insulting one Muslim and recalled millions of game discs. A reader left a comment making light of my worries that appeasing moderate Muslims will lead to the downfall of Western Civilization. He wrote:
Yes, indeed, delaying a much-anticipated video game for, oh, a week or so is definitely a "threat to Western Civilization." Quite right. Removing material that is offensive to someone's religion, which any mature, respectful, and polite citizen of the world should value, is obviously "cowardice." Good job pointing that out. Cheers.
If this were one single incident of appeasement instead of just one among tens of thousands of others than I certainly would have no basis upon which to complain. But this moron obviously did not read the links I gave pointing out that every possible, friggin thing in Western Culture annoys, offends and insults Muslims. Should mature, respectful, and polite citizens of the world remove, change, modify every friggin god-damn thing in our culture just so Muslims will not be offended?
Muslims are offended by the British flag (1), should the mature, respectful, and polite citizens of the UK remove the cross to avoid offending someone's religion?
Muslims are offended at any criticism of their religion, should the mature, respectful, and polite citizens of the United States abrogate freedom of speech to avoid offending someone's religion? Indeed Muslims have called on the nations of the world to ban blasphemous speech altogether (2).
Muslims are offended by Barbie Dolls, should the mature, respectful, and polite citizens of our country cease her manufacture and substitute AK-47s for the children to play with instead as is the Palestinian custom?
Please dear reader, for the Sake of God, please give me one single thing of Western Culture that does not offend Muslims and I will write an apology to Muslims with a giant headline proclaiming
I was WRONG - Muslims do not hate everything in the Western World
I challenge you, I dare you. Give me one thing you dhimmi fool, one thing that does not offend Muslims.
But thanks for the shoddy argument, pretending as if the Sony incident were only an isolated event of no consequence to the world.
For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.
As I said, I do not feel threatened by Islamic terrorists since most people, except Michael Moore and idiots like him, realize that they are indeed a danger to our country and our Government rightly is on the lookout for them. The problem is with moderate Muslims who, although they currently do not pose any physical danger to our republic, nonetheless are a greater threat precisely because of their seeming innocuousness. They will slowly but surely force mature, respectful, and polite citizens of this land to remove, change, and modify every thing that makes this country what it is. And that, my dear reader, is why one single solitary nail is so important.

International Humanist and Ethical Union, United Nations will violate Human Rights says new report on religious freedoms
The United Nations is in danger of creating a global blasphemy law that would make religious criticism a crime, charges a new report from the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU). “Speaking Freely About Religion: Religious Freedom, Defamation and Blasphemy” has been issued as the UN General Assembly begins to consider a new resolution against “defamation of religions.”
...
Since 1999, a series of resolutions against “defamation of religions” have been submitted to the UN on behalf of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), an inter-governmental organization of 56 countries with significant Muslim populations. So far they have only passed as non-binding resolutions, but the OIC says that its goal is to create an international law against “defamation of religions.”
