Tea with a Stranger
In reference to one of my articles (1) reader Lori left this comment: "The Qur'an doesn't sanction "honor Killings" sir. Get your facts right before posting shit!"
In that article I wrote that Jews thousands of years ago were as savage and barbaric as Muslims are today. It is true that honor killings are a cultural matter having nothing to do with Islam. There are honor killings going on today where none of the participants are in thrall to Islam. Muslims correctly assert that this Middle East tradition as been practiced since long before the arrival of Islam in AD 622 and it is disingenuous to blame Islam for honor killings.
However, Jews who live in this culture do not practice honor killings. I have met thousands of Jews who have lived in Arab cultures. They speak Arabic like Arabs, they think culturally as Arabs, and have, except for their religion, become assimilated to the culture in which they grew up. And it is that one difference, their religion, which keeps Jews from killing, strangling, burning, or shooting their wives, daughters, nieces, or sisters to avenge some stain upon their honor.
Fortunately for Jews, Talmudic authorities over 2,000 years ago declared these kinds of actions too barbaric and primitive for a civilized culture. Islam has had 1400 years in which to condemn and prohibit honor killings but has not.
It is interesting to note that so-called cultural honor killings are spread out over many different cultures and ethnic groups. For example, Honor Killings are rampant in Pakistan whose people are not Arab but Indo-Aryan. Although Pakistan is a 99% Muslim country everyone blames the killings on "tribal customs" but in actual fact the Hudood Ordinances (2), a set of Islamic laws, condone stoning a woman to death for adultery (3).
Equally so, one finds honor killings excused in every culture in which Muslims are the majority; Turks, Kurds, Palestinians, it doesn't matter. One only has to ask, "are the citizens in that culture under the rule of an Islamic Republic?" If they are, then honor killings by Muslims are excused, tolerated, hidden, glossed over.
So, dear Lori, my misinformed reader, although the Qur'an may not outright demand that women under the subjugation of Muslim men be killed, it seems that those very same men, if they are Muslim, get a pass for doing so if they appear in any Islamic court.
Since Turkey is trying to join the European Union, the government is discouraging honor killings and so Turkish men have resorted to pressuring their women to kill themselves so that honor killings will not appear in the police reports.
If I ever decide to do in my wife, I only have to convert to Islam, take her on vacation to Pakistan, shoot her 6 times in the back of her head and call the police. When they ask me why I killed her, I will say that I caught her having tea with a strange man; and in this manner I can return to the states an innocent man with a police report that will state: "The bitch committed suicide."
Ah, the joys of Islam.
Disclaimer: I love my wife. I loathe Islam. So the scenario I describe above is not something I would readily do. If any male reader is tempted to kill his wife in this way, please let me inform him that as unpleasant as life may seem with an unbearable shrew, life as a Muslim is even more unpleasant.

Western Resistance, Pakistan: "Hudood" Ordinances (Islamic Rape/Adultery Laws) May Be Repealed
We mentioned on April 6 that in 1979, under the Islamification process instigated by the dictator General Zia ul-Haq, a controversial set of laws was introduced, called the Hudood Ordinances. The main controversy of this set of laws was that it made no distinction between rape and adultery.

The law actually allows those men or women who are found guilty of zina to be subjected to Hadd, which is carried out in the form of public stoning to death if the perpetrator is a Muslim. If the perpetrator is not a Muslim, then the perpetrator of zina can be given a public flogging of 100 lashes.

Western Resistance, Pakistan: Muslim Honor Killings Confronted?
Fida Hussain Mastoi, a deputy inspector-general of police in Sindh stated that the police can do little even to stop the increase in honour killings, let alone prevent the custom.
The blame is often laid at the door of "tribal customs" and people try to avoid the taint of Islam in honour killings. But the Hudood Ordinances, a set of Islamic laws, condone stoning a woman to death for adultery.
That honour killings also happen among people of culturally separate Kurdish, also Turkish and Palestinian ethnic origins, gives the lie to the notion that tribal customs are to blame. Islam is to blame, and Islam alone.
