Starbucks Logo Offends Muslims

Is there anything in Western Civilization that doesn't offend Muslims? And if there's no reason over which to get their turbans in a twist, they will fabricate one. Take for example Coca Cola. There is an Islamic Urban Legend that if you read the Coke logo in a mirror it spells out an anti-Islamic slogan in Arabic: No Mohammed, No Mecca (1).

My readers will also recall the silly allegation that PEPSI Stands for "Pay Every Pence to Save Israel" (2).

The message doesn't even have to be insulting, merely having a script that looks similar to the word Allah on an infidel product is enough to poke the soft spot of Islamic sensibility (3).

It's not enough that Muslims despise unadulterated Western civilization they go through the most convoluted of contortions to go out of their way to manufacture insults where absolutely none exist.

For a view of the Twilight Zone of Islamic Absurdities (aside from the Qur'an) take a look at this video of Egyptian Cleric Safwat Higazi on Egyptian TV station Al-Nas on 25 Jan 2009 claiming that the woman on the Starbucks Logo is of Queen Esther, the Jewish Queen of the Persians, and urging all good Muslims to boycott the company:

YouTube, Egyptian Cleric Calls to Shut Down Starbucks in the Arab and Islamic World

This idiotic ploy to turn Muslim customers away from American companies and instead to patronize Islamic businesses will most likely work because most Muslims are too stupid or ignorant to come to my blog to see the notion debunked. A quick google search will reveal to any interested researcher that the original Starbucks Logo was of a mermaid/siren:

Unfortunately some American Christian taliban found the breasts too offensive so Starbucks redesigned the logo so that the siren's hair covers those filthy disgusting breasts:

Well, this still offended some stuck up prigs because now the mermaids legs or split tail were now spread into a sexual invitation for those with that kind of imagination (4) and so we ended up with the logo we see at the top of this article. Yes, we have our own brand of idiots not dissimilar to Muslims.

A tip of the turban Hat Tip to reader R.T. for the YouTube link.

Mozaffar’s Moments, Coca-Cola is for Mecca

The Urban Legend works as follows. If you take the normal, cursive, curvy Coca Cola symbol, and hold it up to a mirror, upside down [actually no, just hold it up to a mirror - Bernie], you see a very offensive message.

You see the following: Click Here.

Briefly, it says (allegedly) "La Muhammad La Makkah." Translation: No Muhammad, No Mecca.

Problem #1: You have to fudge the image a bit to see it.
Problem #2: It doesn’t say "La Muhammad La Makkah." Rather, it says "Li Muhammad Li Makkah." Which translates as "Due to Muhammad, Due to Makkah.'

This legend is so popular that it required a response not only from Coca-Cola themselves, but their own site provides a link from the Grand Mufti of Al-Azhar to confirm that this legend is false.

Planck's Constant, PEPSI Stands for "Pay Every Pence to Save Israel"

Here are excerpts from an interview with him that aired on Al-Aqsa TV on April 23, 2008:

Salem Salamah: There are companies established by the colonialists and occupiers - large companies with branches all over the world, like Pepsi, Pepsi Cola. This is a well-known company.

Pepsi is an acronym. P-E-P-S-I - Pay Every Pence to Save Israel. Pay every pence - pence is one hundredth of a dollar – to save Israel. Pay every pence to save Israel. Shouldn't the Muslims have a fund, a company, or a large project to save the Al-Aqsa Mosque?

Planck's Constant, Allah on Eggs OK - Allah on Western Products No way

THE fast-food chain, Burger King, is withdrawing its ice-cream cones after the lid of the dessert offended a Muslim.

The man claimed the design resembled the Arabic inscription for Allah, and branded it sacrilegious, threatening a "jihad".

The chain is being forced to spend thousands of pounds redesigning the lid with backing from The Muslim Council of Britain. It apologised and said: "The design simply represents a spinning ice-cream cone."

Endicott Studio, The Mermaid

As some readers may know, Starbucks had to change their corporate logo because some consumers found the suggestive split tail of their topless siren too lurid and sexually suggestive. A simplified logo was introduced, hiding the siren's breasts under waves of hair, and that in turn was cropped and enlarged so the split in the siren's tail would no longer show. The only indication now that the female icon is a sea creature is in the wavy lines, which originally were part of the representation of the two tails. And yes, although the image is that of a split-tailed sea creature, it is a siren. More specifically, it is a double-tailed siren, a baubo siren, which The Woman's Dictionary of Symbols and Sacred Objects points out, is "a cross between a mermaid and a sheila-na-gig" and is found as a decorative motif in many European churches and cathedrals. "Her suggestive pose, like that of the sheila-na-gig, referred to female sexual mysteries in particular."
