Before an audience of enemies to his country, President Obama said, "I know that Islam has always been a part of America's story". That is true. In 1800, the United States was paying in ransom and tribute 20% of its annual government expenditures to Muslim pirates from the Barbary Coast [Wiki].

He added, "The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco..." That is not the entire truth; the statement should have been: "Morocco, which in 1777 was the first independent nation to publicly recognize the United States, became in 1784 the first Barbary power to seize an American vessel after independence." Morocco only recognized us as a dhimmi nation suitable for fleecing.

And as for, "when the first Muslim-American was recently elected to Congress, he took the oath to defend our Constitution using the same Holy Koran that one of our Founding Fathers - Thomas Jefferson - kept in his personal library." - Jefferson kept a copy of the Qur'an for the same reason that F.D. Roosevelt had a copy of Mein Kampf: to know his enemy.
