So I get an email that informs me that at 12:34:56 p.m. today on 7/8/9 it will be 123456789 which only happens once every 100 years. Of course my old alarm clock, which doesn't use military time, already passed 12:34:56 a.m. so it happens twice today. Actually it was better 6,940 days ago (that's 19 years ago for those of you without a calculator) when we passed through 12:34:56 on 7/8/90 where we had 1234567890 and so all the digits were represented.

And one year before that at 01:23:45 a.m. on 6/7/89 we had 0123456789; But this was about a year before Tim Berners-Lee developed the system known as the World Wide Web so there were not too many people sending me pointless emails about this or any other hoaxes, urban legends, Nigerian bank deposits, or chain-letters.

Amazingly I did not get an email two years ago informing me that at 07:07:07 a.m. on 07/07/07 I would have a lucky day.

But Europeans will have to wait until 7 Aug 2009 for 123456789 because they write their dates day/month/year.

For the Japanese it's too late, they celebrated this occasion in 2007 on August 9 since they display their dates as year/month/day.

And if you think your 401K looks bad now, in 1932 on this day, The Dow Jones Industrial Average reached its lowest level of the Great Depression, bottoming out at 41.22.
