17 Year Old Lily Burk killed due to War on Drugs

A homeless parolee accused of abducting and killing teenager Lily Burk was charged Tuesday with murder, kidnapping and robbery. Charles Samuel, 50, seen here in this photo, was led into Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday afternoon. The photo, by the way, was removed from the L.A. Times story (1) probably because they didn't want President Obama calling them stupid for publishing it.
Samuel was supposed to be accompanied by an escort at all times following his recent release from prison but he somehow shook his supervision and went to the Westlake District where Lily Burk was running an errand for her mother at Southwestern Law School. It should be noted that Lily was the daughter of the kind of Liberal that thought it was a good idea for Lily to volunteer helping homeless drug addicts this summer. Will Liberals never learn?
Some bloggers (2) are claiming that the case might have been prevented if Samuel had been sent back to prison because he had violated his parole, however this is not the real problem. No, the problem here is that California cannot afford to keep the number of criminals it already has in prisons. If we could simply get off our moral high horse about drugs and stop this insane, futile, costly War on Drugs we would have enough room in our prisons for the truly dangerous animals like Samuel; see my article Legalize and Tax Marijuana Save Billions on Prisons.
While self-righteous morons are chortling over how many stoners are put in prison for benign recreational drugs, they ignore the truly sub-human species of crap that are released from prison because no society, not even ours, can afford to imprison millions of its non-violent citizens. Gulag Russia could not do it, China does not even do it now. We are the only idiots in the world who pack our jails with non-violent schmoes leaving no room for murderers, rapists, and kidnappers.
Sadly, we are filled in this country with two opposing forces that facilitate this type of crime.
- We have Liberal idiots like Lily's parents who should have cautioned her against helping homeless drug addicts, especially black homeless drug addicts. Sounds racist? Is it racist to tell your daughter that Blacks are majority offender in murder cases (3)? Would it have been so unpolitically correct for her parents to have warned her that although the majority of blacks are decent, hard-working, law-abiding citizens, that it's not a good idea to even be around black drug addicts? Hell, I have been around hundreds of them for years and I am deathly afraid of them; in what universe would a parent allow their daughter or son to be near them?
Liberal paper L.A. Times removed the photo showing that a black man committed the crime. The next Lily-type victim to be murdered will not have seen that photo and therefore will not be more careful around black drug addicts. Thanks a lot, L.A. Times.
- We have conservative idiots who just refuse to see that the War on Drugs has bred more violence because it has made illegal drugs more expensive and so drug addicts need to commit violent crimes to pay for them. Thanks a lot you pompous, self-righteous morons. A college student who smoked one reefer is safe off the streets while there is no room for Charles Samuel.
A lovely young person just beginning her life, killed because her parents wanted to appear just so tolerant of others and because of sanctimonious prigs who fill our prisons with non-violent offenders while leaving no room for truly vicious animals.

Burk, 17, never returned to her family's Los Feliz home Friday after running an errand for her mother at Southwestern Law School in the city's Mid-Wilshire area.
In the afternoon, she made two odd calls to her parents asking how to use a credit card to withdraw cash at an ATM. About 7 p.m., they contacted police to report her missing.
Later that night, police tracked Burk's cellphone and ATM activity to the skid row and Little Tokyo areas, but a search into the early hours of Saturday morning turned up nothing.
At dawn, however, Burk's lifeless body was discovered in the passenger seat of her Volvo in a downtown parking lot. Her head had been beaten and her neck slashed.
Police said they have collected footage from surveillance cameras showing Samuel driving away from the area of the law school in Burk's car with her in the passenger seat, with Burk at a downtown ATM machine and then abandoning the car late Friday afternoon in the parking lot where Burk's body was found.
Fingerprints lifted from the inside of the car have been matched to Samuel, who reportedly made incriminating statements to detectives after his arrest.

Suspect Samuel was apparently arrested on April 23 for a parole violation, but was not returned to prison. The precise extent of his record has not been made clear; we know he was convicted of home invasion robbery in 1987 and has since been back to prison many times.
This comes at a time when the state is considering saving money by not returning parolees to prison for many parole violations:
An expert panel convened by California officials said the state could save more than $800 million a year by not sending parolees back to jail for technical violations and making it easier for convicts to complete classes for early-release credit.
