Official Statement by U.S. Navy Retirees

Will Rogers once said, "Our constitution protects aliens, drunks and U.S. Senators."
I experienced a small frisson when I found that this old quote is totally apt in applying it to Obama (an alien), Reid and Pelosi (Senators who are spending like drunken sailors):

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has ushered in a new Congress. The "change" she believes in includes making it easier to raise taxes, spend like a drunken sailor and give the minority no opportunities to offer amendments in the House of Representatives.
Some navy retirees took offense to being compared to Pelosi, et al. Faithful reader B.W. sent me an email letting me know of an important communication they sent to the blog The Bull Speaks to clear up certain points:
Just received this communication from ETCS(SS) J.A. Middleton, USN (Ret.) on behalf of all retired US Navy personnel. Message reads as follows:

To: The American Public
Subj: Position Statement of the U.S. Economy
1. We in retirement object and take exception to everyone saying that Bernanke, Obama, Reid and Pelosi are spending like drunken sailors. When we were drunken sailors, we quit when we ran out of money.
