The Difference between Saudi Arabia and Israel
In a recent article in The American Spectator (1), Aaron Goldstein noted that when someone complains about Zionists they really mean Jews.
As often happens whenever a writer makes the assertion that anti-Zionism is really anti-Semitism, some reader will leave a comment like: "Well if we can't complain about Israel then we won't be allowed by the PC Thought Police to criticize, Saudi Arabia, Iran, or Cuba for that matter."
First of all, Saudi Arabia, Iran, or Cuba do not permit anyone to criticize Saudi Arabia, Iran, or Cuba respectively.
In Israel there is no shortage of anti-Israel sentiments.
Second, there is no political freedom in Saudi Arabia, Iran, or Cuba.
Third, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Cuba are supporters of terrorism throughout the world.
And most importantly, Israel is a democracy while those other states are not.
The point of course is that when someone criticizes Saudi Arabia, Iran, or Cuba it is not because that person wants Arabs, Persians, or Hispanics to disappear from the face of the Earth. However, in most cases, one knows, as in the case of Helen Thomas, when they speak against Israel or Zionism, they are in fact belching out their deepest hatred for Jews.
But I promised in my title to tell you the difference between Saudi Arabia and Israel. Here it is:
Shortly before he died (632 A.D.), Mohammed was on his final Hajj in the Uranah valley of Mount Arafat, east of Mecca. One day he spied a magic lamp in the sand and upon rubbing it a jinn appeared, and granted him three wishes.
Mohamed told the genii, "Last year, while resting in the Kaaba the archangel Gabriel came to me with the winged horse Buraq and instructed me to mount the steed which took me to the Masjid al-Aqsa, the Farthest Mosque, upon a beautiful hill in Jerusalem. There I tethered my mount, and led the great prophets of the peoples of the book in prayer. However I stayed only a short time and continued my journey to Heaven. I regret not taking a tour of the city and the surrounding land.
"My wish therefore, is to know how that land will fare. What will it look like in 1400 years?"
The jinn said it would go look and be right back.
When it returned he told Mohammed, "The land is filled with lakes and rivers and trees. The Jews have transformed the desert into a garden rivaling that of Paradise. And great discoveries in medicine and science and learning. In every area they excel, for example, Israel leads the world In medical device patents (2).
Mohammed was confused. "When you say that Jews have transformed the desert, you mean that Jews as Muslim slaves have transformed the desert, yes?"
The jinn replied, "Oh great master, No. The Jews are slaves to no man. They own Hollywood, the media, the banks. They dominate the sciences in Nobel Prizes, whatever that is."
Mohammed then asked the jinn his second wish, to find out how the peninsula of the Arabs will fare. The jinn disappeared and in a moment returned.
The jinn was reluctant to answer. Mohammed prodded it: "Tell me quickly, what will change on the sands I stand upon 1400 years hence, what will my Muslims have accomplished?"
The jinn said: "Nothing has changed in 1400 years. The desert sands are still desert sands. Muslims are "the poorest, the most illiterate, the most backward, the most unhealthy, the most un-enlightened, the most deprived, and the weakest of all the human race."
Mohammed was disheartened, "Muslims do not control the world?"
"No, master, most Muslims believe Jews control the world."
Mohammed went back to his tent, a sad and broken man. He could hardly eat his food. Finding his salad too dry to eat, he said, "I wish we had some oil in this place."

The American Spectator, No Mistake About It
Helen Thomas is at it again. Last Thursday, Thomas was the keynote speaker at a conference in Dearborn, Michigan on the subject of this conference was bias against Arab-Americans. Organizers billed it as, "Images and Perceptions of Arab-Americans: The New America: Mom, Apple Pie and Arab Bashing."
Apparently, the nonagenerian thought the best way to address bias against Arab-Americans was to engage in some more anti-Semitism. Thomas said, "Congress, the White House and Hollywood, Wall Street are owned by the Zionists. No question in my opinion."
...
The full video of Thomas' speech can be found here. Towards the end of her remarks, Thomas makes reference to Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. It is ironic Thomas would invoke Dr. King. After all, it was Dr. King who in a letter to an "Anti-Zionist Friend" wrote:
Let my words echo in the depths of your soul: When people criticize Zionism, they mean Jews -- make no mistake about it.So when Helen Thomas says Zionists own Congress, the White House, Hollywood and Wall Street, she means Jews. Make no mistake about it.
Although Aaron Goldstein quotes a letter that has been shown to be a hoax, the sentiments it expresses are indeed those of Dr. King.

BioIsrael, Israel Leads World In Medical Device Patents
Israel leads the world in patents for medical devices on a per capita basis according to data presented at the inaugural session of ILSI, Israel Life Science Industry, a new umbrella organization. Ruti Alon, one of ILSI`s founders, pointed out that one of the reasons for founding the organization was to be able to gather accurate date that could be used to present a clear picture of the industry`s assets. Her findings corroborate the notion that Israel is a leading player in the world life science arena, especially in the cardio-vascular area.
