Do Not Complain about Our Snow
By Bernie on 07 Feb 2011
If your city experienced what you thought was mucho snow this winter and you're still moaning about it, take a look at the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route in the Japanese Alps in the Toyama Prefecture which connects the city of Toyama with the city of Omachi.
I know what some of my readers are saying to themselves, "Dang, I was thinking of going there on my vacation."
Well, here is the real kicker: this is not what the road looks like in winter - this is what it looks like in April - where the snow corridor is 60 feet thick.
According to the tourism website japan-guide.com, in 2011, the entire route is scheduled to be open from April 17 to November 30.
For those of you wondering if this is just an elaborate photoshop, here is a video (courtesy Toyama digital video library) showing how it's done every spring:
If you have any friends who complain about the snow this winter, send them this article with the subject line: "Oh - you think you got a lot of Snow?"
