Veiled Muslim Women Are Deaf
So this morning I'm standing in line at the Dunkin' Donuts on 25th street in Bayonne, New Jersey. I see the cashier suppress a snarl as she berates a veiled employee for screwing up a customer's coffee order.
The veiled young woman is wearing a khimar, a head scarf, which covers her head, neck and ears but not her face (see photo right for an example of a khimar).
A minute later, my turn comes, I instruct the cashier what I want and she relays the order to the Muhajaba. A moment later my two coffees are delivered, but in the wrong size. The cashier merely shakes her head and says, "It's supposed to be two large decafs."
I say, "She'd probably hear better without the headscarf."
The cashier rolls her eyes and nods.
I get my large coffees, swipe my debit card, flip a coin into the tip jar, and leave.
When I get home I notice that the coffees are light with milk. I ordered light with cream.
I won't be going back there as long as the owner is stupid enough to hire Muslims.
To make sure the owner of the store is aware that there is a problem, I just sent him a letter informing him that the girl with the headscarf needs to have holes cut out of her scarf so she can hear better. I told him that I spend about a thousand dollars a year (actually I spend more) at his establishment and that if he wants my continued business to write back to me when the problem is fixed.
Just to be clear: I am not saying that employers should not hire the hearing impaired. In fact, I believe a deaf person would have no problem following instructions through lip-reading or agreed-upon signs for various coffee orders. At least a deaf person seeking work will try to take a job he or she can actually do.
Muslims on the other hand will take on jobs even if they are unsuited or unwilling to do all that the job requires. An intelligent person who was forced to wear a head-covering because of cancer treatment or some horrible accident would cut a hole near the ear so he or she could actually hear what is being ordered. But not Muslims.
The owner could have saved himself a lot of trouble if he had simply read my article Do Not Hire Muslims. Hopefully enough people will feel as I do and employers will get the hint and not hire Muslims.
Devout Muslims cannot live or work in America because Islam prohibits their assimilation and integration into our way of life. If they cannot assimilate, if they cannot adopt our culture, if they insist that we must make accommodations for their religion then they should not come here.
