Spanking Should Be A Crime
By Bernie on 21 Jun 2011
Tell me if you agree with any the following:
- The decision to beat one's wife or not needs to be left up to husbands, not judges.
- Many men say that a good beating can be very effective discipline on a woman who is not obeying a man's orders.
- Some women just cannot be disciplined with words and a beating is the only option.
If you agree with any of the above you are an uncivilized, savage brute.
Now let us consider the case of beating helpless victims who cannot dial 911, cannot defend themselves, cannot run out of the house, cannot escape their beatings for years and years on end.
Tell me if you agree with any the following:
- The decision to beat one's child or not needs to be left up to parents, not judges.
- Many parents say that a good beating can be very effective discipline on a child who is not obeying a parent's orders.
- Some children just cannot be disciplined with words and a beating is the only option.
If you agree with any of the above you are an uncivilized, savage brute.
A two year old child cannot do evil deeds. A two year old child can only cry, gurgle, poop, pee, eat, hug, and play. All normal, non-evil child things. If a child is crying, it is not because it is the devil attempting to make you go mad, it is likely because it is wet, hungry, teething, sick, in pain, etc. These are not things that can be made better by spanking or beating mercilessly.
By now you probably have read about the Texas mom that rightly had her child taken away from her for beating her two year old child.
FoxNews Latino, Texas Mom Gets Probation, Loses Kids, for Spanking her Daughter
A Texas mom has been sentenced to probation and has lost custody of her children for spanking her daughter.
Rosalina Gonzáles of Corpus Christi pleaded guilty on Wednesday to Injury to a Child for swatting the 2-year-old on her buttocks.
...
Police arrested Gonzáles after the child's grandmother reported the injuries and took the child to a hospital.
Gonzáles will serve five years probation, take parenting classes and follow guidelines laid out by Child Protective Services
KZTV10.com reports that the ruling judge in the case made it clear that spanking is a crime.
"You don't spank children today," Judge Jose Longoria is quoted as having said. "In the old days, maybe we got spanked, but there was a different quarrel. You don't spank children."
I have no doubt that the majority of American parents will disagree with this ruling. They were abused as children, and so it is no big leap to see them abusing their children as well. Here are typical morons spouting reasons that children should be beaten, and amazingly this is in response to a two-year old being beaten (comments taken from The Stir with my reply in brackets):
- Spanking a child is sometimes the only effective alternative. [Yeah, I suppose a two year old will put two and two together and realize that the red marks on her butt and fingermarks on the fridge door are related]
- A parent has to have a few effective tools. [whips, belts, rods, branches, wooden paddles, etc.]
- ... kids are too spoiled these days. They can use a good hard tap now and then. [yes, two year olds can be so spoiled, smoking cigarettes, drinking beer, hanging around with the wrong crowd, listening to loud music - so spoiled]
- I was spanked as a child, and I turned out to be a good, kind and intelligent citizen. [Except for one detail - you like to beat your children.]
- The world is full of spoiled children! [But why is this so since the majority of American parents beat their children?]
Here is the best comment left by Amy Wingfield: "I believe children need discipline - and some need a lot, my child being one of them!"
What a beast! What she is saying is that she beats her child constantly because the child needs it. But here's the question Amy: if spanking/beating/abusing your child worked why are you still beating your child? If spanking works, your child would not need "a lot" of discipline. Obviously you are daily brutalizing your child for no purpose other than your own satisfaction.
Many experts in child development contend that all forms of corporal punishment, including spanking, are harmful. And despite what some parents believe, spanking an infant is always inappropriate.
In more primitive, savage times, wives were beaten, witches were burned, heretics were boiled in oil, and children were thrashed. It's time parents became civilized.
