Fat Man Sues White Castle over Tiny Seats
By Bernie on 15 Sep 2011
The alternate title for this article is: "Martin Kessman is a Fat Idiot." By now you've probably read about this 290 pound buffoon who is suing the White Castle fast food chain for not having seats big enough to accommodate his humongous bulk. 1
This is precisely why we need tort reform - to prevent these kinds of frivolous lawsuits. What is a corporation to do; if they have huge seats to accommodate the overly abdominous, then some moron will sue because large seats encourage over-eating; if they have normal seats they are discriminating against the morbidly rotund.
Where does this end? If Kessman wins, can a 590 pound man sue for seats big enough for him? What about half-ton Manuel Uribe?
Should all restaurants be required to accommodate him as well? Will this end with large mattresses on the floor as seating?
I have no doubt that if White Castle had already had extra-large seats, this greedy doofus would be suing them on the ground that he wouldn't have gotten so fat if the seats were smaller.
I hope they throw his fat ass out of court.,

Stossel's Take Blog, White Castle Hates Fat People
Martin Kessman, a 64-year-old stock broker, sued White Castle of slider hamburger fame because he says he's too big to fit in the seats.
'As I looked around the restaurant, I saw that there were no tables and chairs that could accommodate a person that merely wanted to sit down and eat his meal,' Kessman wrote.Kessman claims that the lack of seating for someone his size, 290 pounds, violates his civil rights. He wants bigger chairs and "unspecified damages."
