New iPad HD Will Sell for 1900 bucks on eBay

One of the rumors falling upon my ears is that the new iPad HD (formerly iPad 3) will be a little thicker than the iPad 2 in order to hold a larger battery. Larger, because another rumor is that the iPad HD needs the extra battery life in order to access 4G LTE networks (1) and to play high definition videos.

Of course, if Steve Jobs were still alive there would be no way in hell that he would ever allow his engineers to come out with a thicker model of anything. So in this regard his untimely demise is something that will actually benefit the Apple community.

I am not an Apple fan, I believe the iPhone will eventually be a small segment of the smart-phone market just as Apple computers were always a tiny fillip in that industry. The Android comes in more sizes, shapes and colors than the iPhone and Android customers are not treated like crap, read Apple Has only Contempt for Its Customers.

Equally, the iPad will suffer a similar fate. (2)

But until the mass hysteria ends, Apple people will pay more for an Apple product than a competing item despite fewer choices and fewer features. I have no doubt that Apple can come out with an HD (Heavy Doorstop) that looks like this:

jailbreaking your iPhone can 'brick' it.

and Apple addictionados will still pay $599.00 for a glorified doorstop. Worse, Apple stores will sell out of them leaving hungry buyers no recourse but to bid up to $1900 on eBay to get one.

CNET Reviews, Will the iPad HD battery be able to handle 4G LTE?

A report from Reuters this morning claims it has the inside track on the iPad HD (or is it iPad 3?) specs, namely that 4G is going to be included in Apple's tablet update tomorrow.

Also in on the rumor act is tech blog iMore, which claims to have a source within Apple who actually knows what's going on. The source, who correctly predicted the March 7 iPad HD event, is now telling iMore that the iPad HD is "good to go" for 4G LTE.

CNET News, iPad rivals catching up: Can iPad 3 keep them at bay?

... here's a breakdown of what some of the competition can offer that's lacking in the iPad:

Amazon Kindle Fire

At first glance, the Fire's biggest advantage is price. It's hard to argue with a $200 tablet. Sure, the specs aren't the greatest, and it feels sluggish at times, but it's not a bad experience for the price. Another key feature is the access to Amazon Prime and its streaming video service. Apple has iTunes, but it doesn't have its own dedicated service for streaming video for a low flat rate.

The Kindle Fire also boasts its own custom Silk Browser, which is supposed to enable faster Web surfing through a cached architecture. It's debatable whether Silk is that much better.

...

Asus Transformer Prime

The Prime uses Nvidia's quad-core processor, which on paper means two more cores than the iPad's dual-core chip (Nvidia would argue there's yet another stealth "ninja" core in there as well)...
