Being Hot Did Not Save Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko From a Prison Sentence
Before I discuss Yulia Tymoshenko, I need to lay a little background regarding pretty women and punishment: my wife happens to be hot. As a consequence she does not get traffic tickets when she drives, ever. I've always assumed that this is also true in general for all attractive women, and indeed, university studies in the past few years have only strengthened my belief (1).
Some may argue that this is so because cops may be hoping that by not issuing a ticket, the pretty blonde might exchange the favor with a date or even sex. This seems very plausible and recent research (2) supports this view: men who spend even a few minutes in the company of an attractive woman have reduced brain function and cannot think clearly possibly because men are "programmed by evolution to think more about mating opportunities."
However, being hot did not save former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko from a prison sentence. Here's the story:
Guardian News, 30 Apr 2013, Yulia Tymoshenko imprisonment 'politically motivated'
European court of human rights backs former Ukraine PM's assertion that seven-year sentence is to keep her out of politics.
Ukraine's imprisonment of the former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko was a politically motivated violation of her rights, Europe's human rights court has ruled.
A Ukrainian ambassador stormed out of the court in response to the ruling in a case that has strained the former Soviet state's ties with Europe and the US.
An architect of the 2004 pro-democracy Orange Revolution, instantly recognisable by her crown of braids, Tymoshenko was sentenced to seven years in prison in October 2011 after being convicted of exceeding her powers as premier while negotiating a gas contract with Russia.
...
It is unclear how a decision by the European court would be legally binding in Ukraine.
...
Tymoshenko and her allies, including Vlasenko, who was expelled from parliament, say her conviction was masterminded by President Viktor Yanukovych, who is intent on keeping her locked in jail, away from politics and out of last year's parliamentary elections and the 2015 presidential election.
Disclaimer: OK, I will admit that the only purpose of this article is to display the face of a beautiful Ukrainian woman. Yulia will be included in my upcoming article 13 Beautiful Ukrainian Women.

Social Science Research Network, 31 Jan 2007, Political Economy at Any Speed: What Determines Traffic Citations?
[Page 21] The findings show that age and gender are determinants of the likelihood of a speeding ticket. The likelihood of a fine decreases with age. Females are less likely to receive a fine than males. The interaction effect between the gender and age variables shows that females are more likely to receive a citation when they are older. Ceteris paribus [all other things being equal], young females have the lowest probability of receiving a speeding ticket. The coefficients on female and the interaction between female and age show that the benefit of being female, in terms of reducing the likelihood of a fine, disappears around age seventy-five.

Telegraph, 3 Sep 2009, Men lose their minds speaking to pretty women
Talking to an attractive woman really can make a man lose his mind, according to a new study.
...
The research shows men who spend even a few minutes in the company of an attractive woman perform less well in tests designed to measure brain function than those who chat to someone they do not find attractive.
Researchers who carried out the study, published in the Journal of Experimental and Social Psychology, think the reason may be that men use up so much of their brain function or 'cognitive resources' trying to impress beautiful women, they have little left for other tasks.
...
Psychologist Dr George Fieldman, a member of the British Psychological Society, said the findings reflect the fact that men are programmed to think about ways to pass on their genes.
'When a man meets a pretty woman, he is what we call 'reproductively focused'.
