Now that some Muslims have been arrested plotting to kill more people, this time in Canada (1), I suppose we will have even more silly newscasters scratching their heads and wondering WHY O WHY are Muslims doing these things.

In my article When a Dog Bites We Do Not Look For Motive - Why The Boston Marathon Bombings Happened, I explained that it is useless to seek a motive when Muslims attack infidels for the same reason we don't seek a motive when a dog bites.

However, in a recent email to me, reader Sara A. wrote that she was not satisfied, insisting there must have been something to trigger the sudden urge to Jihad, just as a quick movement or a sharp noise may trigger a dog to suddenly bite a family member.

Sara may be thinking that perhaps the two bombers read of some alleged atrocity by Americans against Muslims and that perhaps it was such news, although it's no excuse, that caused them to commit such a heinous act.

Well, sure, that could be it, however most Muslim enmity is not due to recent events; Muslims hold a grudge that Jews and Christians didn't all instantly embrace Mohammed and willingly convert to Islam. it annoys them that the Holy Scriptures of the People of the Book have been redacted to exclude any mention of Mohammed. Muslims will tell you that the reason you cannot find Mohammed mentioned in either the Old or New Testaments is that the Jews and Christians have corrupted those books. According to Muslims, Mohammed's coming was mentioned profusely in the original, unadulterated Holy texts.

They still hold a grudge for the Crusades and in the last century the destruction of the Ottoman Empire.

As I noted in my article The Difference between Muslims and Rattle Snakes:

n 1998 Bin Laden declared: "the following fatwa to all Muslims: The ruling to kill the Americans and their allies -- civilians and military -- is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it." That's it - a standing order to attack us whenever possible, wherever a Muslim can do it. It is futile to look for a specific action that precipitates a Muslim barbarity against us. It's like Mao Tse Tung's order to the Chinese people to kill flies whenever they can, wherever they find them. A fly need not have done anything to deserve being swatted. To Muslims, men, women, children - we infidels are as insignificant as flies on a wall.

So no trigger, no specific action by infidels, no presence in Muslim countries, no aid to Israel, nothing is required to provoke an attack. That we are infidels is all the reason.

But if we insist that there must be a cause, perhaps the Tsarnaev brothers recently heard a tape of Bin Laden declaring his fatwa. Perhaps they didn't know beforehand that no excuse is necessary to kill infidels. Maybe they didn't know before that it is the duty of every Muslim in every country to kill Americans and their allies whenever they can.

OK, Sara, that make you feel better?

By the way, some Muslims will insist that since Bin Laden is now dead his fatwas and his influence are moot. But consider the photo above taken 5 days after his death, those are not Muslims celebrating his demise. They are Sunni Muslims denouncing the U.S. Navy SEALs operation in which bin Laden was killed in the city of Abbottabad in northeastern Pakistan.

I bet you lunch there were more Muslims worldwide mourning his death than celebrating it.
