The Difference Between the USS Reagan and the USS Obama
When Ronald Reagan was sworn into office in 1981 our country was facing multiple crises: unbearably high inflation, high taxes, an economy in decline, rising crime, Muslims defiantly holding our citizens hostage, the Soviets fighting a war in Afghanistan, and other foreign policy debacles. A year after the end of Jimmy Carter's disastrous presidency, most Americans had lost confidence in our country.
A year after Ronald Reagan's triumphant presidency, inflation was down more than 66%, tax rates were cut in half, the economy rebounded, crimes rates were falling, the hostage crisis was long-ago resolved, the Soviets had withdrawn from Afghanistan, we were respected again among the nations of the world, and consumer confidence was at an all time high.
And so it was right and proper that when it came time to name one of the most effective and versatile fighting vessels in the world, we were proud as a nation to christen it the USS Ronald Reagan.
Now considering the results of years of the Obama administration it is no surprise to see the vessel that accurately portrays President Obama's accomplishments in the economy and foreign policy.
