The United Arab Emirates Is an Advanced nation

In response to a banter of comments to my article Competition is Good - But I Won`t Open a Jewelry Store in the Libyan Desert, one of my readers disagreed with our characterization of Dubai, one of the main commercial and cultural centers in the United Arab Emirates, as being intolerant.

I wondered whether or not a Jew could sell jewelry in Dubai. A reader calling himself anti-Stupidity (Jews' friend) left this reply:

I live there and tell you with confidence, UAE is more civilised and advanced than both USA and Europe.

Unlike USA, here all nationalities are welcomed, and unlike USA, all races and beliefs are respected. I saw here several Israeli nationals.

First, let me address the assertion that the citizens of the UAE are civilized and advanced: when the first lingerie shop opened, Emiratis reacted as all civilized and advanced peoples do:

first lingerie shop in UAE

first lingerie shop in UAE

In addition, as I noted in my article 13 Most Dangerous Countries in the World, the US State Department warns visitors that in Dubai you can be arrested and go to jail for kissing in public - God forbid we display affection for our wives. Yes, a very advanced sheikdom in a very advanced country.

Now, secondly, let me address the assertion that unlike in the United States, in the UAE, all nationalities are welcome. Seems my dear delusional reader believes his own hype - Israelis are not welcome: earlier this year an Israeli footballer was banned from entering Dubai (1).

It is true that there are Israelis in Dubai, but they had to enter with another passport. Non-Muslims, and especially Jews, who travel to UAE or any Muslim country should take care not to engage in political conversation or to act overly infidel in appearance or manner.

I also direct my readers' attention to the Travel Information Manual of the Abu Dhabi Airport (2) which bluntly states that Israeli nationals may not enter or transit through their airport.

As I've stated before, Muslims are either delusional or purposely being deceptive. What they say has nothing to do with reality.
