Six Lies about Michael Brown
There has been much heat and little light generated recently on the web regarding the Michael Brown shooting. We are told by his parents that their son, an unarmed gentle soul soon headed for college, was minding his own business before being summarily executed by a racist cop. There are six lies in the previous sentence:
Michael Brown was unarmed.
Not quite. Standing 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing almost 300 pounds, this behemoth was indeed a lethal weapon. Imagine that you are pointing a gun at a man who merely scoffs at your pitiful little gun and nonetheless heedlessly rushes at you unstoppably. What would you do? "Oh Michael, please don't take my gun and kill me - you're better than that." Really?
Michael Brown was a gentle soul.
Yeah, after he gently strong-armed a poor clerk and robbed him using his bulk to intimidate him.
Michael was soon headed for college.
Not likely. After robbing the convenience store Michael was not headed for Penn State but the state pen.
Michael was minding his own business.
Arrogantly walking down the middle of a road, blocking vehicular traffic, ignoring a cop's request to walk on the sidewalk, cursing at the cop, bum rushing him, attempting to take his weapon, punching him in the face, is not minding one's own business.
Michael was summarily executed.
Michael rushed at a police officer despite the cop's request to freeze. How do I know Brown wasn't summarily executed? Look at the photo of the bullet entrance pattern on Michael Brown's body. Does that look like an officer calmly, coolly and accurately shooting a kneeling or standing victim, or a cop shooting wildly in an intense moment of fear attempting to stop a raging bull? If you can answer honestly after looking at this photo (click on image for larger view), then you know what really happened that day - that it was the only thing the cop could do.
The cop only shot at Michael because he was black.
No, Michael was shot for attacking an officer and attempting to kill him. Michael Brown in any African country where the police are also black would have been shot in the exact same manner and for the same reason. Race has nothing to do with it. Does anyone believe that Ferguson Missouri cops have a monthly quota of blacks to kill for no reason?
Are there racist cops who arrest, harass, and fabricate evidence against blacks? Yes there are and when I see such a case I report it as I did in the Marcus Jeter case. When the cops are wrong, I report it. When they are right, as in the Michael Brown case, I report it.
