Islam Has Contributed Less To Human Advancement Than A Pack Of Donkeys
Three years ago, a reader alerted me to a blog post that made the assertion that "In its entire history, Islamic civilization has invented and contributed less to human advancement than a pack of donkeys." My response to my reader was that this was highly insulting to donkeys.

History and current events show that Islam is the worse curse which can befall mankind. Islamic countries are poor performers in every area be it economic, artistic, or scientific. Where are the Muslim telecommunications companies? Can I buy a Muslim vehicle or any type except a donkey cart. And even that donkey cart will have Western designed and manufactured axles,wheels and tires!
Where are the equivalents of Shakespeare, Dickinson, Newton, Beethoven, Einstein, Lloyd-Wright, Steve Jobs, Rembrandt, Rodin, Bohr, Menuhin, Callis, Gershwin, Cole Porter, Donizetti, Bellini, Rossini, Verdi. And I could go on and on and on.
But Muslims can’t. There are no equivalents in their world of death and hate and ignorance.
Jews account for more than 181 Nobel Laureates, about 22% of the total number of folks in that exclusive club. Muslims say they have won 15 Nobels. But six of them are Peace Prizes, including those awarded the likes of Obama and Yaser Arafat, and the other winners are not Muslims!
So as outrageous as it sounds it is true to say

Before any of my Muslim visitors counter with examples of the great scientific achievements made during the so-called Golden Age of Islam, let me say that the discoveries of that period were made by the citizens (forced to become Muslims) of the now conquered portions of the previous Persian, Mesopotamian, Indian, Egyptian, Greek and Byzantine civilizations. That is to say, the period should actually have been called The Golden Age of the Conquered Peoples of Islam.
As I wrote in my article Muslims Did Not Invent Algebra:
When Arabs overran Persia, Egypt, Constantinople and other countries they found great literature and books of discovery. But ascribing greatness to Muslims for translating the ideas of others into Arabic is like saying the Nazis were artistic geniuses for invading the museums of Europe and carting off the great works of art back to Germany.
Eventually, of course, the true spirit of Islam came to rule and smothered the flames of inquiry and investigation in the countries they ruled.
