Jihadists with Professional College Degrees Do Not Need Jobs

It would be nice if Obama simply perused recent news articles to realize that most terrorists are neither unemployed nor lacking in economic opportunity, thus avoiding the embarrassment of having his administration issue stupid and ridiculous assessments of what motivates Jihadists.

Take for example the case of Wesam El-Hanafi and Sabirhan Hasanoff arrested in 2010 and charged with trying to aid Al Qaeda. Hasanoff was sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2012 and last month Wesam El-Hanafi was sentenced to 15 years (1).

The salient points to consider about these two are the following, as originally reported in my 2011 article: Hanafi is a computer engineer, his co-defendant is an accountant. Both have degrees from Baruch College, both are married with children. They are not poor, uneducated extremists. They are well-to-do, college-educated professionals who previously were considered moderate Muslims.

Jobs for Jihadists, really Obama, you Bozo?

Brooklyn Al Qaeda operative Wesam El-Hanafi sentenced to 15 years

A Brooklyn man who bankrolled Al Qaeda and plotted an attack on the New York Stock Exchange was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison.

Wesam El-Hanafi provided video cameras, computers, encryption technology and even remote control cars that could be converted into bombs to an Al Qaeda operative in Yemen.

The 39-year-old also made $67,000 in donations to the terror network.

“He was living the American dream. Then he turned his back on his country and pledged allegiance to our greatest enemies,” said Manhattan Assistant U.S. Attorney John Cronan.
