Palestine: 1937, 1947, and Now

Consider the following true story: Jews have lived continuously in the land of Israel for over 3000 years, while Arabs arrived less than 1400 years ago. When the Ottoman's lost the war, they also lost control over the area that for convenience we will call Palestine. In 1937 the victors of WWI called for the partition of that area into two states, half for the Jews and half for the Arabs (1). The Arabs refused the offer.

In 1947 the United Nations passed a resolution offering the Arabs another chance at having their own state - the Arabs again refused (2).

Time and time again, a two-state solution was offered - but the Arabs always refused. The current land of Israel covers only ⅕ of the original Palestinian Mandate area; that is, Arabs occupy more than 80% of the disputed area.

During all this time, Jews improved the land (see photo above) and even installed fruit and vegetable gardens on Arab land. So-called Palestinians never improved the land they lived on, and only fomented hate among their own children.

The world wants the two sides to resolve their differences. Here are the two positions:

Israel: Wants to live in peace, and provided she be given a promise not to be attacked, is willing to have Palestinians live in their own state.

Palestinians: Wants Israel annihilated and does not want to live in peace.

What should Israel do?

Only an idiot can see that there can never be a two-state solution. It is time to relocate all Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank to the Jordan.

David Hornestay Blog, Palestine: 1937, 1947, and Now

As partisans of Israel repeatedly point out, there has never been an independent entity called Palestine. However, there should have been one following a 1937 British Royal (Peel) Commission which recommended partition of the League of Nations Palestine Mandate into Arab and Jewish states. The Arab representatives immediately refused the compromise.

Better known is the second chance: the November, 1947 United Nations General Assembly resolution which authorized two independent states in the Mandatory territory. Implementing that resolution, the State of Israel came into existence in May of the following year. Their Arab counterparts, backed by the surrounding Arab nations, refused the offer and went to war to eliminate the nascent Jewish state.
