Notice anything odd about the refugees? Where are the women and children?

Although we have seen a few women and children in hundreds of similar photos of the migrant crisis, it is interesting to note that the majority in almost all the photos are of men, and not just any kind of men, but military-age young men. The question one has to ask is why are they not in the military fighting for the freedom of their country? It is one thing for women, children, the infirm and the old to flee zones of conflict, it is another to view a vast sea of young men doing so.
