How To Stop Mass Shootings
Suppose for a moment that you are a leftist journalist who is assigned to cover a news story of a Muslim atrocity committed by a fellow calling himself Mohammed al-Jihadi. In writing your article, the first thing that you will do is avoid using his name (too Arabic/Muslim-sounding) or any of the words Islam, terrorist, Muslim, or jihad, because it's just not right to make Muslims look bad.
In addition, your editor has supplied for your inspection hundreds of photographs of al-Jihadi's butchery for inclusion in your piece. But which image to choose? You don't want to shock or disgust your reading audience or make them feel ill toward the followers of Islam - after all, it's just not right to make Muslims look bad. And so you pore over each photo until you find one that can be cropped, blurred, or so darkened that the savagery depicted is absolutely ameliorated. Can't find any such images to Photoshop? Then include irrelevant photos to steer the focus away from blood and Muslim violence.
The effort at sanitizing Islamic terror must be done by such tolerant people as yourself because you know deep in your heart that Islam means Peace and it's your duty to make sure that non-Muslim readers are not given an incorrect view of Islam due to the actions of a teeny number of extremists.
I cannot fail to mention that all this work is quite tedious and exhausting which probably explains why very few of the tens of thousands of Islamic acts of barbarity since 9/11 rarely get published in western media. In the exceptional cases when reports of Islamic terror cannot be suppressed, leftist journalists will blame the problem on the proliferation of guns in our society.
Oh Bernie - You're Exaggerating
Think I am being too absurd? That no respectable journalist or reporter would be so in denial about Islamic terror that he would blind himself to the truth or be so politically correct that he would hide the truth from the public?
Then allow me to illustrate: in the eyes of the leftist media the slaughter of innocent infidels in San Bernadino was not due to Muslim extremists but due to a policy failure of our government in regard to curbing the ownership of guns:

Do you see any names of the perpetrators, Syed Rizwan Farook or Tashfeen Malik? No? Too Muslim-sounding?
How about any of these words: terrorist, Muslim, Islam, homegrown violent extremists, attempted bombing, Pakistani descent, Pakistani-born, jihadism, martyrdom, devout Sunni Muslim, or any other words relevant to the massacre? No? Too Muslim-sounding?
OK, how about images of the poor bloodied victims or the faces of the Muslim attackers? Anywhere on that page? No?
Well, at least we have photos of politicians unrelated to the incident.
But we have to ask - what is behind the California massacre? What could it be?
Ah-ha! The Daily News reveals that it's the fault of cowardly politicians who have failed to end the scourge of guns. Oh - the inhumanity - if only guns were outlawed altogether, there would never be mass attacks like this again.
So when you meet an idiot who only reads liberal media and is completely clueless about the threat that Islam poses to western civilization, you know why.
