ACORN and Mafia - good togetherAmerica has had two colossal failures since its founding: the War on Alcohol and the War on Drugs. We all acknowledge now that the former facilitated the fantastic growth and power of the Mafia. Sadly, our politicians have yet to admit the public corruption and the creation of new gangs we have encouraged by the latter. Drug criminals now control our border with Mexico. NO PLATES"If I were a criminal, to confuse police I’d get personalized license plates that say “NO PLATES". At first glance that sounds like a great idea. A cop issuing you a ticket would scribble "NO PLATES" in the appropriate section so that back at the courthouse they would file the citation as uncollectable.

Cafe Wha? Greenwich VillageWhen I was fourteen years old (1959) I used to hang around in the Village spending most of my nights explaining the origins of the Universe to a small crowd who would gather at the Cafe Wha? to hear me. I vaguely recall my lectures, basically rehashing theories I read in physics books and embellishing those with my imagination at the time. What I do remember quite clearly is that almost every week some listener would ask me if I had read "The Fountainhead."

I thought Nixon's idea of fighting a war on drugs which started the year before was futile and counter-productive and, after almost a trillion dollars spent, I still do.
