What is it lately with Israel? First there was the report about the Israeli pornsite that specializes in producing porn based on the latest political themes (I suppose everything is political in Israel):

Porn site fosters Mideast relations

An Israeli porn site is proving surprisingly popular with Web surfers in a number of Arab countries, some of which don't have diplomatic relations with Israel.

Ratuv, Hebrew for "wet," specializes in producing skinflicks with topical political themes, typically featuring scenes involving female soldiers, Mossad agents and members of the military.

The most popular movie on the site is "Code Name: Deep Investigation," an X-rated parody of the arrest of dissident Israeli nuclear scientist Mordechai Vanunu, who spilled the beans on Israel's secret nuclear weapons program in the 1980s. He was eventually caught by Mossad agents, who sent a beautiful female agent to trap him.

"Arab people usually see female Israeli soldiers in a bad situation, so there's a lot of curiosity to see what Israeli girls look like without any uniforms," says Shahar. "We don’t make regular porn films. Our films parody the situation in Israel, so we look at issues like the elections here and Mossad. There is a lot of relevance to the Arab-Israeli situation."

And now Israel's New York consulate wants to publicize a friendlier side to Israel: its beautiful women in uniform. Or to be accurate, out of uniform.

Maxim Features Models From Israeli Army

A spread in the upcoming July issue of Maxim features a roster of Israeli models, all ex-soldiers, photographed wearing very little in the cause of their country. Headlined "Women of the Israel Defense Forces," the campaign has already been criticized as inappropriate in Israel.

The Israeli government is desperate to improve its image and manipulate people who only link the Jewish state with wars, occupation and brutal aggression against the Palestinians. Recent polls show that Israel isn’t well-regarded in the country’s closest ally, the United States, where the majority of young men believe that the Jewish state is "too religious and too militaristic.”

Unfortunately on the Israeli side, Colette Avital, a member of the Labour party and the first woman to seek Israel’s presidency, also described the move as a "pornographic campaign sponsored by the Foreign and Tourism Ministries to encourage tourism".
