13 Forbidden Fruit
In my article Iraq's Sexy Salad Days I reported that vegetable stands in Iraq cannot have cucumbers and tomatoes together. In fact even placing them side by side in crates would lead to at least a whipping, perhaps even death by the morality police which all Islamic countries are plagued with.
Yes, yes, I know that America also has its morality police but at least in this country religious fundamentalists do not whip you in the street. They file nasty letters or picket your business or TV show; you know, non-violent things. I am not talking about the Westboro Baptist Church; certainly I would not want to stain all of Christianity because of the actions of those few looney toons.
Although fruit by itself cannot be sinful, Muslims extend the notion of indecency if the fruit suggests even the slightest sexual innuendo.
So I have taken it upon myself to find 13 examples on the Internet of filthy, disgusting, sinful, sexually provocative fruit and vegetables and may I burn in Islamic Hell for it.
- The Persimmon originated in China and is widespread in northeast Asian countries. The most widely cultivated species is the Japanese Kaki Persimmon or kaki. These are sweet, slightly tangy fruits with a soft to occasionally fibrous texture. Cultivation of the fruit extended first to other parts of east Asia, and was later introduced to California and southern Europe in the 1800s, and numerous cultivars have been selected. [Wiki]
- Salak is a species of palm tree native to Indonesia and Malaysia. It is a very short-stemmed palm, with leaves up to 6m long; each leaf has a 2m long petiole with spines up to 15cm long, and numerous leaflets.
The fruit grow in clusters at the base of the palm, and are also known as snake fruit due to the reddish-brown scaly skin. They are about the size and shape of a ripe fig, with a distinct tip. The pulp is edible. The fruit can be peeled by pinching the tip which should cause the skin to slough off so it can be pulled away. The fruit inside consists of three lobes, each containing a large inedible seed. The lobes resemble, and have the consistency of, large peeled garlic cloves. The taste is usually sweet and acidic, but its apple-like texture can vary from very dry and crumbly (salak pondoh from Yogyakarta) to moist and crunchy (salak Bali). [Wiki]
- The durian is the fruit of trees from the genus Durio belonging to the Bombacaceae. Widely known and revered in Southeast Asia as the "King of Fruits", the fruit is distinctive for its large size, unique odour, and formidable thorn-covered husk. The fruit can grow up to 30 centimetres (12 in) long and 15 centimetres (6 in) in diameter, and typically weighs one to three kilograms (2 to 7 lb). Its shape ranges from oblong to round, the colour of its husk green to brown, and its flesh pale-yellow to red, depending on the species.
The edible flesh emits a distinctive odour, strong and penetrating even when the husk is intact. Regarded by some as fragrant, others as overpowering and offensive, the smell evokes reactions from deep appreciation to intense disgust. The odour has led to the fruit's banishment from certain hotels and public transportation in Southeast Asia. [Wiki]

I have ignored the hundreds if not thousands of improvised erotic fruit collages such as the one below, opting instead for fruit that grew into a sexy pose naturally. #1 was a bit iffy but in the end (no pun) it was two naturally occurring fruit albeit positioned erotically.
